had a shufty in the boot today and discovered a false bottom with a spare wheel inside, what a clever idea, I wondered where it was?
Anyway found a little VW package in there (photo attached) containing three even littler packets. Seems to be a rubber seal cleaning and lubrication pack. The packs are numbered 1 to 3 so guess you use them in that order. Anyone seen this before or made use of it?

Yes, I got the same when I picked my car up a couple of weeks ago. I asked the dealer to get me a bottle of Krytox as I have been studying the advice on the board here. He said there was no need as it came bundled on delivery. I found one pack in the boot and another in the passenger door pocket. Must have saved me quite a bit given the prices people have been paying over the counter...if they work. No sign of any leaks yet though.

Be seeing you

Yes it says in the blurb you should apply a pack at least once a year.
I thought they were complimentary 'wet ones', good job I didn't rub them on my face, eek!

I used mine today as I have been getting a few squeaks. The first two packs are just like 'wet one' cleaners on cloth that doesn't leave any bits. the last one seems to be a lint free gauze impregnated with Krytox. Enough to do the window and sunroof seals and not difficult to apply although obviously need to keep it off the paintwork. I'll let you know if it works ;)

Does the pack have any product number to help you order more?
My EOS is an '08 model bought in Sept this year and I didn't get one :(

Krytox on wipes sound like a good idea. Would stop me using most of the bottle in one go ;)

Remembered to go and collect my Krytox, no sorry 052 172 a1 today. cant understand why the dealer was sooo eager to get it off his shelf, its hardly gigantuan, 30ml £33.80 gulp!! forgot to ask about the lubricant wipes...duh, could we not impregnate our own wipe, surely it would do the same job, at prob a fraction of the price

I just got a quote for VW to carry out the cleaning and lub... £92 plus VAT. Its not that I am lazy, just dont trust myself not to mess it up! Plus if VW do it and it goes wrong - they have to sort it! :)

I found SHF's tip about using a cotton bud (Q-tip) worked very well and its very economical as well. Its the deep folds that need the lube and I don't think a wipe would be very good anyway.

Seal cleaner

Yes, got a apck in mine when I picked it up in August.

Was told by the dealer to do it every 3 months or so, different to what it says in manual. My job this week-end to try it out, weather permitting !!

Was in my dealer today about some trim damage and I asked about the cleaning kit. They denied knowledge of its existence until we looked in the boot of an EOS in the showroom. Low and behold there was a kit there. So I took that one away with me. Replacements cost £5 odd.
