When I flick the boot (trunk) opening switch in the driver's door panel, even if I race around to the back of the car like a thing possessed, the lid usually has already locked itself again. Does anyone else find the time delay on the boot lock too short? Am I doing something wrong or is the car doing something wrong?

Hi contactrf. Your boot locking problem has been mentioned on the forum before. If you look at the search section at the top you can search old threads and should be able to see what happened to others. Hope that helps.

ok, thanks Trish, I'll search as you suggest ... just as soon as I get my breath back from all the running around the car!

I just went out to my garage to test the trunk lid. It seems that no matter what way the doors are locked or unlocked, you should be able to exit your car and walk to the trunk lid and open the trunk. If you are in a quiet place, and you pull the the trunk release on the door, you should hear a substantial thunk which is the trunk unlatching followed by a whirring of a motor. If you hear 2 whirring sounds, that is the trunk relocking. Usually happens when the trunk doesn't fully clear its latch sometimes caused by the springs in the latch being faulty. Your car will need to go back to the dealer. Make sure you can demonstrate the problem for the service writer or they may say they can't duplicate the problem.

I've had the problem a lot but it has been cured just by adjustment (by the dealer). Just opening then closing the driver's door can cause enough of a vacuum/movement to cause the electric lock to pull the bootlid right down again before you get there.

This has been well-covered on this forum a couple of times before so suggest you have a rummage through for solutions!
