Hey all, had my EOS since Jan this year and 3 of my calipers have gone almost completely rusty!! Has anyone else had this problem? I have booked it in with VW tomorrow in the hope of getting this sorted under warrentee...

As per your other post:
Certainly not an issue I've seen with mine (2006 model). May be just a defect in your particular car?
Anyway best of luck in getting it sorted.

maybe some how they were not coated with enough protectant (paint) from factory.

Ok... so its not the calipers... but the brake disc hubs (not sutpid really)!

VW official (even though my car is only 10 months old!!!) - Known concern, no solution at present, caused by external factors (pressure washing, vehicle standing still for period of time, etc) therefore not covered on warrentee.

RUBBBBBISH!

Isn't that the same with all cars?

It's certainly the case with every one I have owned. Don't see a problem I afraid. If it had been the calipers that's a different story.

After 10 months... thats not good! I know it does happen but not that quick when you have just invested in nice wheels to make the car look good!

I still don't understand your problem. My disc hub is mostly hidden by the wheel hub so does not show through the wheel.

Can you post a picture of the offending rust?

Hi,

This is merely a cosmetic issue.. However, "Deeside" was at the last meet and from what I recall, he had removed his wheels, then sanded and painted the hubs and they are VERY shiny!! His were also rusted before he repaired them... Perhaps he can give some advice!

Ive read about a product that is made by Meguiar's.
Its from their Professional lineup.
Its something like "Detailer Wheel Brightener?" Have a look for it, it could be worth a go.

I was reading it on the web a while ago.

I think its a spray on application & makes a big improvement to this problem.

All the best :)

Rusty Calipers/actually Brake Hubs?

Hi Guys! was hoping to find a thread like this... Have had my Eos for only 12 months and have the same problem, ie rusting brake hubs, which given I have the Chicago wheels are very visible. Have spoken to the local Dealer who have said it is a 'known problem' (and actually have seen some newer VW models about with the same problem and worse), but the Dealer also said it is not covered under warranty - for a £27k car I would say that is just unacceptable!! Wondering whether a local paint fix or rust treatment might help? I am considering complaining the VW about it -anyobody think that is a good option?
