Hi,

I bought my EOS used. One thing that I failed to notice prior to purchase was a scratch on the trunk lid. The scratch is about 5 inches long and is not very deep. Now that it's spring and my black EOS is covered in yellow/green pollen here in Virginia, the scratch has become noticeable.

Has anyone else had to deal with a scratch on the trunk lid? Any recommendations for fixing it?

Thanks

I had a similar problem though not a scratch but bird shit which removed the top coat of lacquer. It took a lot of work but I got the finish perfect again by using a cream metal polish to grind away (gentle but firm) the mark as far as possible. Then use a cutting compound to smooth out the swirl marks as best you can. Finally use a polish to build up the surface shine. It took me about 2h over 2 days to get a good finish back.
Now its almost back to pristine, I just give it a bit more polish every time its washed.

Hi
not sure if it's similar.. I noticed my black EOS just got it's first tiny damage, i.e. sthg like the size of a 'green pea' on the front engine cover (whatever is the correct English word for it which I can't recall right now, not the boot, the one opposite :)) that basicaly is the coating is fully removed, creates almost a millimeter steep hole, and reveals a whote/yellow material... Obviously, besides me, nobody notices it, but I' dlike first to make sure it won't lead to further erosion or damage of the car, and then find out how I can fix this... Does it require a professional to repaint the whole cover or car? or Can this bne handled with polish/paint? Any help welcome!
I'll post a picture later today or tommorow to better explain...

Sounds too deep a hole (in the bonnet) for the same treatment. You could try filling with matched paint proud of the surface a little then try polishing out with the same method as before. I would get a second opinion before doing anything.

Hi. Will take car to dealer, as I seem to trust him so far... Will post advice and results here when done. Fred

I've just ordered a repair touch up kit from VW to fix some damage to my bumper. A fantastic little kit with Rust Remover/Paint/Clear Lacquer in a handy little kit - and all for a little over £5.

I have used that kit before and they match colour and finish very well. They seem to work best on smaller scratches than the larger ones. Good luck!
