Honestly, if it's not one thing it's another!

While trying to fix my roof woes, I slid the driver's seat fully forward using the fast button on the top of the seat, and when it got to the end of its travel it made a sound it shouldn't, and now when I try to move the seat backwards, it makes a clicking noise (clicks three times then stops). I can see that a gear is jumping, as the rail on the near side moves when I try to move the seat.

Of course, since the seat now won't move, I can't get to the screws to get the seat out to examine the problem, but I can raise the seat up fully, and this shows that the motor is held in place by two T30 (?) screws on each side. It could be problematic getting to the ones on the inside.

Does anyone know if this will get me anywhere? After everything else that's gone wrong, I'm cautious about doing anything at all right now.

Hi. Have you tried pulling the seat back low down on the side that is jumping while using the switch?

I did something pretty similar.

The motor that moves the seat back and forth is under the middle of the base of the seat. I lifted up close to that, and it freed the seat.

I'm not sure how you're supposed to fix this when the seat runners go wrong and you can't access both the front and back spline bolts to take the seat out. Guess I'll just cross my fingers and hope I never have to learn!

I'm facing a similar issue with a 07 "project" that was swamped. Track is rusty, drive is probably seized. 2x2 T30 Torx removed from both sides, seat still won't budge. When jumping the motors with 12v I was able to get the lift motors "up" which eased access and I can get the track motor to "torque" in both directions.

How do I finish removing the motor support so I can slide the seat back to get it out? I'm trying to avoid having to cut the seat base apart... :(

At 6'2", I can just barely squeeze into it but have visions of the air bag deploying and taking my head off!

Anyone have pictures of the BOTTOM of the track motor bracket?

Update...

Update: I got the driver's seat out. I'll elaborate with a new post describing the procedure when I get a chance. Had to make a couple "special" tools to get it done. Also discovered wiring issues at the floor connector... :(

Please write this up as it will be of interest to other members faced with the problem of removing the driver's seat.
