my wife really is not getting along with the EOS.
mainly because its not auto and she is finding the 2 doors a pain after a long string of other cars.
anyway seems its not a good time to sell and have been offered around £21000 for the car
is this good or does anyone know of a dealer wanting to buy the car?
2006 2.0T, black, red nappa, sat nav,two zone climate, chicargos, cruise, lux pack.in mint condition!
cheers

Jan 08 Glass's Guide lists the basic 2.0T-FSi Sport Manual (i.e. pre-extras like leather) 2006 (56) with 16000 miles on the clock as £21975 Retail Price (what it should cost on a dealer's forecourt) / £20475 Basic Trade (what a dealer should give you for it). Your extras must be worth another £1000/1500 although the dealer will always tell you they make no difference...

If it's a 2006 (06) then knock £725 off those prices.

Hope this helps.

EOS prices

I was in a similar position before Christmas, VW dealer I bought car from - Jan 07 reg 2.0t black metallic 4k (spotless as you can imagine with that milage) reckoned about 18k for trade in! I tried another who offered 17k against a 6 month old golf auto TDi. The missus will have to stay in the passenger seat.

A few years ago a dealer explained to me why trade in is so low after a few months. Goes something like this:

Let’s say a dealer sells you an Eos for £25k he pays 17.5% vat (£3,723) from that £25k to customs and excise so he only receives £21,277 from you as the buyer.

As soon as you drive that car out of the showroom the tax man has your £3,723 vat and you will NEVER see that money again.

The dealer will have bought that car for say £22k but he claims back 17.5% (£3,227) vat so the cost to the dealer is £18,723.

So if the dealer can buy a new Eos for £18,723 why should he pay you any more if you decide to sell it back after a few months? That’s how the dealer will look at the situation.

In reality you can sell your car privately as individuals don’t normally reclaim vat so anything less than the £25k new price looks good to the private buyer, especially if there is a three month waiting list for a new one.
