Well, its that time again, my EOS is now 2 yrs and 4 months old, and my mind is trying to work out when the best time is to sell, and get a new car - I always planned to sell before it was 3yrs old as I really don't fancy having to pay for work on the roof is something goes wrong!

With the ecconomy like it is, I would hope that I could be able to get a good deal on a new EOS - well I can live in hope! But, on the other hand I suspect that the car has taken a bigger hit on the 2nd hand market? (have a 2.0 FSI Sport, cruise control, multi disc, luxury pack)

Anyway, won't be doing anything about it for a little while yet, but like to mull things over! :D

Crikey that must be about £2.20 per mile in depreciation alone for whoever bought it new..

And to think for its first year it was top of the depreciation league, retaining up to 84 pct of its value!

Jeez that would have been a good deal for you! That's a massive drop, esp as the cars were keeping their value quite well 12 months ago!
Tell me about it! there is an 06 2.0t for £12999 in a garage that im toying with the idea of...i would have gone to see it by now but the guy sounds like an ass. The first thing he said when i enquired about it was "im not chipping!"" i said sorry?" he said "on the price....im not budging a quid if your wondering"....lol. "Ok bye"....

£12999 is not a bad price to start with though!
Glass's Guide February 09 quotes £14825 Retail Price at a Dealer and £13025 Trade-in price. This is for 'average' miles i.e. 35000.

It's a real problem getting a decent trade price at the moment - many dealerships simply don't want the cars on their forecourts depreciating in value.

Doesn't bother me - I'm still more than happy to hold on to mine!

Current Glass's Guide trade price for the basic car is £15650 so he's offering you £350 for all your extras incl the leather!

Not really surprised though as used cars are not exactly flying out of the door at the moment. You are a very rare breed right now if you're looking to change your car and the fantastic discount you will get off your new purchase should more than offset the lousy trade-in price you're being offered for your old car.

are dsg's more desirable?
had a hard job getting one last year
so what do you think someone would pay privately for mine with still under 5000 miles and mint?

thats half its retail cost new 2 years ago....wow, and that from what was considered the 2nd best car for holding its value next to a boxter!
thats nearly £3.00 a mile :(
now i am depressed
even at the reasonable discounts at the moment i think anyone who buys new must be nuts!
