Time to contribute, haha.

Got my MY08 ride early July.

1. The very first thing to go is my stock number plate for a custom one:

2. Bye bye stock 17" and welcome 18" R8 Replica with PS2

3. Bye bye the "MPV" ride height (especially with 18"). Mounted with Eibach lowered spring

A lad at work had put one of the old type number plates (pre 1971) on his car which was a 2001 golf. He was done for displaying the wrong number plates 3 points and £250 fine.

The Eibach rides nicely, seriously with upgraded 18" and on harder tyres (mine is Advan Sports), the comfort is not sacrificed, corners seem much easier and more fun tho. We got the springs together so its cool to lower to that much tho H&R etc lowers much more.

There are too many high kerbs and humps in Singapore, I find it a 'potential danger' to lower a vehicle too much, having seen 'injuries' to my previous cars due to lowering too much kekekek :D :D

Nice look. How does it ride? Did you do the springs or take it some where?
First experience is fimrer but not harsh.

I am particular sensitive to suspension system change and have no no complaint for the past two days ride while the spring is setting in.

Let me explain my lay man feeling through the mod.

1. Stock condition: Magic carpet ride (not much feel of the road and car is like floating) Riding on 17" CSC2 tyres.

2. After changing to 18" with PS2, you can feel the ride from the steering immediately - more communicative. But since I'm on 40 profile tyres, the ride comfort is still good.

3. After Eibach lower spring - you can feel the road from your butt - haha. Not too hard either but you can feel more and the car flex is more obvious due to the firmer setup. but IMO everthing is still in comfort zone that my wife did even notice.....:p

I'm not a ver hands on person - so it's done at a workshop. The rear spring is rather simple but hell break loose changing the front spring. The absorber just refuse to 'get' out from the mounting with the brake and shaft so got to remove the whole disk and shock out of the ride:eek: No way I can do it myself........

Overall good investment and just counting down for the stock shock to EOL and will have a aftermarket one replace.

Have to thanks Tortoise for you kind advice and help to bring the spring together!:)

Just did a front in parking at my office and it just clear without problem!!! Yes, hitting high kerbs and humps is what I try to aviod and this ride height seems right.

BTW, it seems to be slightly lower today, guess it's setting in good and will have it aligned this saturday.

We are keeping the great tradition that the you folks have left behind in Singapore since the 70s.

No worries, this plate is legal in Singapore as long you don't polish it too much and have tried and proven so riding in front of the traffic police, haha.

I usually hate lowered cars, but your's looks rather nice, because you haven't dropped by too much. I also like the way your rear licence plate has been cut to match the cut-out ;) Thanks for sharing!
