My 2009 Eos arrived yesterday, but I have decided against installing the SmartTop module I bought for it a couple of weeks ago, as I don't fancy disturbing all that nice new trim ;) It is therefore brand new and has never been installed.

Pardon me for being a) blonde, b) female, c) dumb (delete as appropriate:D ) but what the hell is this bit of kit and where does it go/what does it do??!

Yes, it plugs into the boot area where all the wiring harnesses for the roof are hidden. Installation looks pretty simple on the manufacturer's website, but as my car is brand spanking new, I don't feel like unscrewing and unplugging stuff at the moment :)

It basically allows you to operate the roof via the key from a distance and/or open the roof while you're driving (though frankly I wouldn't have thought that was advisable).

Oooooh whoops!

Yep, new roof it would be... Cost about £5000...
Went to open the roof at traffic lights the other day, obviously they turned green, so I pulled away as slowly as possible and had to pull over to get the rest of the roof down as it stopped working when I went over about 5mph! Luckily for me it was all fine and dandy though but I was told it would cost £7,000 for a new roof from my salesman when I bought the car. Maybe it was his way of making me part with near on £400 for GAP insurance?!

Nevermind, at least I'm covered now regardless!:D
