I am contemplating adding splash guards to my new Eos (Saturday), but mine is candy white and the splash guards only come in black. I am not sure if this would look odd and in addition to this my dealer said they have never installed them on the Eos before, so that makes me hesitant to let them do it. Does anyone have them? Do they really help that much? Bottom line, are they worth it?

BTW, I did a search for splash guards and came up with nothing. That is why I started a new thread.

I pressume your "Splash Guards" are what we refer to as "Mud Guards" in the UK?

I've never liked them much myself although understand they serve a purpose. I've seen a few on eBay - although haven't seen anything other than black though. They seem to be a VW standard, one size fits all models type of arrangement.

Eric,
One of the moderators on the Vortex site has a white Eos with the splash guards. He had them painted to match. Last I asked him, he said the paint on them was still good. I think they look ok and can help protect the body immediately behind the tires. They aren't cheap though. The last price I've seen on them was $160 for the set of 4 and you have to install them.

We call them mud-flaps and they do work, keeping a lot of the muck off the body sides. They are in black so that they don't stand out visually. They must look a bit grim in white?

Having said that I couldn't bring myself to fit them to my Eos as they look a bit utilitarian..

Painting them in body color tends make them blend in more. If I were to put them on my Eos I would have them painted to match the color of my car simply because I don't think the black goes real well with the blue and beige combo I have.

Hi Eric,
I have them front & rear on mine. As my EOS is Island Grey you can hardly see them. They do work & keep the sills & rear bumper clear of stone chips & muck.
Not sure I'd fit them to a white car as they would be very visible though unless painted.

The VW ones are quite small & follow the body lines quite well.

Ordered by Eos with Mud Flaps. At AUD400 they are the most expensive mud flaps I've ever purchased. The Eos is Black.
I have a white D3 with black mud flaps, they don't look ugly as the nearby tyres are black.

Mud Guards

My route to work is down some country lanes that are a bit muddy, and I found that I was getting mud splats up as far as the door hands!
I fitted the mud guards myself which took a couple of hours, as each wheel had to come off to fit each mud guard. I made sure that each guard was well sealed by using some transparent silicon sealer to stop trapped water causing problems.
The result is great as now I do not get such a spread of mud and spray up the side of the car or across the back.

At about £50 a corner they must come fitted ?? I paid £70 for 4 and I will be fitting them myself as I want to polish the insides of the wheel rims while they are off. Like Deeside I would recommend a little clear RTV.

Since the original question was for a CW Eos, I'll post mine.

Looks like pretty much a non-issue. :)

Mud flaps

Yes, bneeos at $400 (aus) they are the most expensive mudflaps I have ever fitted but when you are used to having them on every car you have owned over several decades I bit the bullet. (After all - they are are genuine VW accessories which we all know that means an "arm and a leg" )

I personally think that colour coding is a bit over the top (ie unnecessary) as someone else said they are next to your tyres and they are black - or are they also colour coded???

My car is white so there is an obvious contrast which I don't believe you notice after a very short time.

Don't think you'll get a choice of colour. They'll be black unless you have them painted/paint them yourself! They are least obvious in black.
