Well I probably should have found this board before I purchased the Eos, but better late than never, you sound like a fun group. Love the European humor!
Here's our baby, Paprika Red Lux (I guess '08 your only choices here in the states are base, komfort, lux and V6) Cornsilk Beige (Love the black, but you really don't want a convertible in Texas with black interior) No options to choose from on the Lux except for Nav, Dyn, Ipod and rubber mats, went just for the mats, probably would have liked the Ipod, but don't own one and figured by the time I did it wouldn't be compatible anyway...(I still have an LP player)...Only complaint is the very real problem of rolling backwards on hills, very odd for an automatic (never owned a stick shift) but it will just take some getting used to, besides, we really don't have many hills here in Texas!
Oh, thanks for the tips on de-badging, the lines are much cleaner without, as soon as I brought her home I stripped them off. Cheers! Kurt

Welcome to the forum from a fellow American. Nice car. You should get a lot of use with the top down where you live. Yes it does rain there and get hot in the summer and sometimes a little ice or snow, but there is more warm times than we get around here. Anyways, welcome and enjoy.

Congratulation. I know you will love it. I have a 2007 exactly like yours but with the park control, ipod and splash guards. I never had a car that got better gas mileage then the window sticker and this does. We are getting winter here now so won't be putting top down much.

Enjoy

Golfbridlewood and SoCalMan who says you don't have the same sense of humour as this side of the pond. FLAT in Texas and California!!!! Obviously neither of you have ever been to Lincolnshire England!!! Now thats what you call FLAT. Think that's where the 'Flat Earth Society' must have begun.
Golf, the iPod fixture in the armrest is fantastic and no matter what generation or size iPod you might get in the future, the fixture will still be the same. I have a nano and classic and alternate them easily.

You clearly haven't been to North Lincolnshire and visited the Lincolnshire Wolds Skidoo, nor perhaps Lincoln itself! They actually have a street called Steep Hill which is about a 45 degree angle!!

Anyone know what an "LP" is?

An "LP" stands for long play as in records that played at 33 1/3 RPM and were typically 12 inches in diameter, as opposed to the earlier 78 RPM that were either 12" or 10".

Thanks all for the welcome. Skidoo did not know about the photo gallery, will post some pic's when I get some decent one. BTW, love the wheels on your silver essence, are those a factory wheel? Also, anyone have a good recommendation for after market blue tooth? I notice my steering wheel has a phone button, kind of odd considering you can't get bluetooth here, perhaps you have it across the pond? Oh, what is the "park distance control" ya'll mention? Same as back up sensors?

Oh, I was in London a few weeks ago, yes it is flat! I was there over the weekend on my way to Munich. I was blown away by your "Remembrance Day", all the poppies, all the tributes, very very nice. (And it was sunny and warm the whole weekend, nonsense about this dreary weather stuff!)

SK2 here neh - Your 100% right about Steep Hill in Lincoln - its worse coming down than going up specially in winter!!! Great coffee in the tea and coffee shop at the top though.
The wheels on Gary's car are solitudes GolfBridlewood and yes the 'PDC's' are the back sensors. Glad you liked the Rememberance Service, bloody shame it's necessary to have one at all though. Shame we arn't doing more for those returning from war as well.

Welcome from Overland Park Kansas USA - enjoy your Eos! I have 07 Eos with same interior but mine is white on the exterior. Love it. Agree with you that the black seats in Kansas or Texas for that matter is bad news in the summer.

So far the Cornsilk Beige seats have held up well. Am trying to be careful as I started getting a lot of wear marks on the drivers side leather seat on my VW Cabrio that I replaced with the Eos.

You can add the Ipod to the center console at some point down the road if you ever want to. I have seen them for sale on Ebay. It is a plug and play install it plugs into the factory radio.

Yes - I was only kidding! I'm 58 years old so actually have lots of LPs but sadly nothing to play them on!

neh I saw a unit advertised the other day, looks like an old fashioned stereo unit, which can ply your old LP's and convert them into CD's. Think it was in one of the freebie mag's you get with Radio Times - must be getting old, I find some of the stuff in them quite interesting nowadays!!

I know this is not part of the original thread but just wanted to add that this turntable you mentioned sells here in the states at about 150 US dollars. I believe the brand is ION and it actually converts records into MP3 files through your computer. It comes with software to take out the various noises that you get from the records. A friend of mine has one and he says it works well.

I was just on a website that gave list prices for the Eos in Pounds. According to my figures, you pay around 45% more for roughly the same vehicle which seems amazing to me. I realize you have the VAT tax which I think is around 10-15%. There must be some other hidden taxes to get to the GB pricing scale.

Another thing I thought was interesting is that it appears that Air Conditioning is NOT available. Is this right? I know you get some hot days over there that get into the 90's. Ops, I should have said the mid 30's.

For some reason almost every car sold in the US from the smallest upward comes with factory Air.

On UK models basic air conditioning is standard - "Climactic"
We have to pay extra for dual zone climate £ 395
VAT (sales tax) is 17.5% in the UK - some other European countries have it even higher - up to 21%...

Generally the Uk car buyer is mugged... However at $ 2 / £ 1 your prices are going to look cheap to us (and vice versa).

You would faint at the price of our petrol (gas) ~ £ 5 / gallon ~ £ 1.04 / litre ..... This is why the 3.2L is not a popular choice in the UK

That price differential applies to all cars - not just Eoses - including ones made here! We pay about 50 pct more for Jaguars than you do. US sales are so vital to most manufacturers that they want them at any price; US-made cars are so cheap that the European manufacturers have no option but to compete on prices.

In other words the high prices we pay subsidise your low prices!

For your info most cars in UK are sold with aircon; only the most basic cheapo hatchbacks charge extra for it.

I am not sure that I neccesarily agree. An Eos built in Portugal costs VW The same to build no matter where the car goes to from there. The big cost differences occur where the car is sold depending on how much the various taxes and fees are. We don't have the same kind of tax system you have and we don't have the same kind of government run programs such as healthcare. You pay 2-3 times more for the fuel you put in your cars due to taxes. And businesses are probably treated no better than the average person when it comes to the cost they must pay to be in business. We all pay in the long run, just differently.
