Hello again everyone. Even after 1 year I am still getting people asking "What is this car?" & "I want one!" I think VW don't realise just what a winner it has. The ads on TV, here in Australia, were very subdued. I have owned Subarus, Volvos, Nissans, Chryslers & none compares to the fun of having an Eos. I want to thank this forum for answering my questions on Krytox & radios & other odds & ends, by letting me roam around the threads. Cheers, Mark

Several car dealers don't even know what an Eos is. Just got back from a second trip to the Toyota dealership. A friend wants to buy a Prius and I went with. The dealer thought maybe I'd be interested in a new car too and asked what I'm currently driving. "2008 Eos." "What's that? I never heard of it."

Fine, keep it that way. I like that it is somewhat exclusive without being snobbish. It truly is a stealth car. Performance is great and unexpected when you just take a look at it.

Usual depth of knowledge displayed by most car dealers...

...and that includes some veedub staff too. When I was buying mine I went to VW in MK (yup, that's VW central). As I'd been reading all I could before I went (so I didn't just get the 'nice-colour-and-loads-of-room-for-shopping' spiel), I was amazed at how much I had to explain to the guy: for example, what was standard on what model, what Westwoods were, and various other things. He then hassled me for a sale, with no reduction whatever. Needless to say I was out of there pdq.

I then went to one at Towcester - totally different story, chap knew everything.

But I agree that I'm happy it's so mysterious. I love it when people see her and ask me what she is!!

I've never seen a video ad for the Eos in the US. I've had mine for 15 months now and the only way I found out about the car was at the local auto show in Oct '07. I had been seeing other makes of hardtop convertibles (like the Lexus, etc) which semi-interested me, but my "real" '95 Mustang GT convertible was good enough for my topless driving. I went to the show with no expectation of buying a new car and was "blown" away when I saw the Eos for the first time. Two weeks later I drove mine off the dealer's lot with NO regrets yet.

We're in the midst of our rainy season in the Northwest and haven't had the top down for maybe 3 months. I'm looking forward to April to "peel" it off.

You get a rainy season in Washington state?
Our rainy season is 1st January to 31st December...

The Eos has been in the UK since 2006, and since then I've never seen an ad for it on TV, nor in any newspaper.

They've done numerous passats - streamline, highline, CC.
The new Golfs.
The Polo blue motion...

But no Eos

It was promoted quite heavily when it was first launched (on 14/06/2006) with double-page spreads in the weekend paper colour mags and lots of TV ads, but haven't seen anything since.

Yes, it was the ad with al lthe oversized things in it and the perfect couple driving by. Can't remember the strapline!!

Can anyone tell me why the new Passat is called a CC when it isn't please? Eos is definitely a CC, but this has flummoxed me - orginaly I got quite upset that VW had supplanted (apparently) the Eos.

Or am I having another senior moment??

Getting back to the original thread................

I personally can see the Eos becoming a bit of collectors item. Of course this will very depend on when they will cease production which from some reports may not be that far away. This car has something unique about it and I think it will easily out-do the test of time.

So to all of us who have them think carefully what you do with your Eos and above all look after it and try andkeep it as original condition as you can. Mines a gem and I am trying very hard to keep it that way.
