Great Ocean Road Cruise

OK Victorians ( and Silvershadow)

This is the cruise you have been waiting for:D

I have driven the length and breadth of the GREAT OCEAN ROAD, and have determined the exact positions where 20 or more EOS' can be parked and photographed in all their glory, with the most splendiforous backdrops that Mother Nature can provide

Just waiting for you all to join in and make our overseas cousins the most jealous that they can become:

All you have to do is register your availability (you can register multiple dates): the most popular date becomes zero hour: at 9.00 am on that date we meet at Torquay and we take over the GREAT OCEAN ROAD - WHO IS WITH ME????

Driving time is about 3 hours and if we use all of the photo ops, it will be an all day affair:

Torquay - Meet at Davidson Drive Car Park

Bells Beach car park - Eos’ with Bells Beach below in background

Point Addis car park - Eos’ with rocky coastal view in background

Top of Hill going out of Anglesea - Roadside view of Eos’ with Anglesea below in background

Split Point Lighthouse - slightly above line of Eos’ with lighthouse in background

Great Ocean Road Memorial Arch - group photo of us

St George River – above looking down at Eos’ parked next to St George River

HMS Gregory – Interesting grave next to road and shipwreck relics visible

Grey River – I guarantee 10-15 Koalas to be sighted

Hill Above Apollo Bay – Roadside view of Eos’ with Apollo Bay below in backround, with hinterland in background from different camera angle
Melba Gully car park – Eos’ in front of rainforest

Yuulong Hall – Roadside view of Eos’ in front of farmland and coastal view

12 Apostles – group photo – can’t get Eos’ near them

Port Campbell - Eos’ with Port Campbell below in background

Peterborough - above looking down at Eos’ parked in front of river / wetlands

Bay of Martyrs car park- with Bay of Martyrs below in background

If all goes well and we pick the right date, we we can go on to Warnambool and watch Southern Right Whales at Logans Beach.

Guys and Gals - Go for it as this can be the Greatest Driving Adventure ever

Gee, this is really infuriating, the poll didn't come up - until I can figure this out, sort out your availability - remembering that I will not include GRAND FINAL DAY among the choices;)
OK Gang - select you're available dates:
OK, I had some typo's but please vote to make this a great cruise !
Bump for the Great Ocean Cruise
geoffa1, we will be there with you in spirit, just wish it could be in body and with our EOS!
Gary & Pat
Looks amazing. Dont forget to post the pics for us northern hemisphere dwellers!!! Enjoy
Tim
All dates are OK for us subject to family and other conflicts requiring attention and have voted accordingly.

Don't overlook my suggestion re involving the Victorian VW dealers with prospective buyers being given the use of a demonstrator to attend - this should encourage some support from VW[Aust].
Would love to be able to attend - if my EOS has arrived for any of those dates.
The order was placed the last week of June & I have been informed that it is around a 4 month wait. However, if my car was still in 'transit', I would love to be able to use a demo if it was an option.
BTW, I have noticed on my order that it will be a MY010 model - although I am not sure how it will be any different from a MY09.

P.S. Oct 10th or 11th would be preferred dates. I have voted for these dates.
Not sure if my vote's actually showing up.

18 October is (unfortunately) the only option. Everything else is occupied with birthdays, school holidays, and the Melbourne Marathon (intend to do the half).

Let's see how things go ... .

Seeya,
Michael
Bump to get more takers
Geoffa1
I presume from your listing that you are contemplating a single day event?
Has any thought been given to doing a liesurely cruise on the Saturday and then those that want to go home that afternnon / night can do so or others can stay overnight somewhere and amble back on the Sunday?

Just a thought

I have posted my preferences but not sure if it came up as I cannot see who posted what

Hi Fred, yes your preferences have been recorded. If you click on the digit showing the number of votes, it expands the screen showing all of the voters for each date.

I suppose this is a toe in the water for this type of event. I have suggested it as a one day thing to maximise the number of people who may be able come; ie. available only one day of a weekend, but not both.

I don't know if we'll have 6 takers or 60, so all I can do is see how the votes go, and name the most popular date as THE date. If it turns out to be a Saturday, there is nothing stopping those who it suits from taking over a hotel/motel in Warnambool, devastating the town and totally comandeering the GOW all day Sunday (or did you have something less dramatic in mind?)

If we have a high level of interest early on, we can do as Silvershadow has suggested and contact VW Australia re some involvement on their part.

Maybe they can shout the Bollinger and Crayfish on Saturday night!!

Bump (apologies for doing this, but we need to keep the thread in view to make this a goer) :)
Another Bump
I hate to say it, but there have been over 100 viewings of this poll and the accompanying thread for only 5 votes, with no more than 3 on any one date.

Is this how much interest Eos owners have in showing off their pride and joy, while joining a convoy on one of the great drives on this earth, with clearly the most discerning, attractive and intelligent company available.

Come on gang, it will be hard work for me to PM every Victorian Eos owner, but it is a sacrifice I am willing to make if needed (but don't make me do it, I can get really verbose when wound up)
Lots of the views are probably from people on the other side of the world who want to keep tabs on what you antipodeans are up to!

If it wasn't so bloody far away I'd be joining you like a shot!

Have fun.

Hi Geoff,

Don't give up too soon - you should know almost everyone will leave things to the last minute and then expect to be part of the event. This is a regular problem in my other car club.

I suggest you let the poll run to the end of July with regular "bumps" then set the date to suit those who have responded. You can then contact VWA with details of the event and ask them to advise their dealers in Vic, SA & NSW that they are welcome to attend and/or invite potential Eos customers to attend using one of their demonstrators.

Sue and I will be staying overnight in Warrnambool afterwards so if anyone else is interested, let's find a good venue for dinner and chat.
