Hi All!

After more than 2 months researching this car, and a month's worth of negotiation, I may finally get my Eos today!

I have been working w/a dealer who is selling me the car for dealer invoice and wanted a candy white on grey with the lux pkg, PDC, and iPod adapter, and it looked like that car was going to happen. Only problem was that it was slated for a different dealer who originally said he'd do a dealer trade, no problem. The car isn't scheduled to arrive at the other dealer's until the end of this month, but he already started hemming and hawing about the trade. Didn't loook good at all.

So my dealer found another car with the same specs except the PDC and iPod adapter. As much as I wish I could have the PDC, I decided not to wait to see if the other dealer will come through and can live w/o the PDC. It's not the end of the world, and I don't want to wait another month and then have the other dealer refuse to trade, leaving me back at square one and another month w/o this car. I'm not a patient person and I'm already well beyond my limit!!

So, the dealer is installing the iPod adapter today, and hopefully, I'll be picking it up tonight after work! So touch wood, cross your fingers, and think good thoughts that I'll be able to finally get my car tonight!! :D

Well, unfortunately, it looks like I'll still be waiting a little while longer.

I went to buy my Eos last night but when I test drove it, I noticed it had over 200 miles on it. The dealer did explain that it had probably been through a couple of dealer trades (which is how they got it), but add to that scuff marks on the driver's seat controls area and door side panel, dirty leather--it looked like the driver's seat had already seen a lot of use, and an iPod "adaptor" which I thought was supposed to be a docking cradle in the center console but which turned out to be a cable routed through to inside the console, and the car just felt like it was "used" and not "new." I decided to wait for another one coming in about a month, and it will have the PDC that I wanted in the first place.

So I guess it's back to living vicariously through all of you again. :)

Hi Giffsmom! I've got at least 14 more weeks of waiting, if that helps your wait seem shorter! The first time the PDC keeps your car from getting damaged you'll be glad you held out for the car with everything you wanted in it! Good luck. Stay strong!

I'm glad you waited. Its not good to impulse buy cars. I;d wait for the PDC car espeically if its only a month. In the meantime, wear a bib to help keep the drool down when you look at photos here. it helped me!! ;P

Shorenuf--you're right, 14 months makes my measley one-month wait pale in comparison!

Yes, once I got over the initial disappointment, I'm glad I'm waiting too. I tend to keep my cars a long time (currently driving an early 2000 new beetle w/99,800 miles). I really wanted the PDC but was trying to convince myself I could live w/o it. But I just couldn't compromise on the other issues, regardless of how small they may be, on a car that costs what it does and that I plan on keeping at least 10 years or more. I think I always would have a certain amount of regret and that's not a good thing.

Now Archiea, about that bib, better make it extra large. I've been poring over every Eos picture I can find since we got home from the dealer last night!!

Griffsmom -- I keep wanting to shop for my new baby!! 14 weeks of shopping could get very expensive!! I have a list of things -- all practical "keep my car orderly and clean" kinds of items. I will be in real trouble when I start considering some of the "mods" in the not necessary but really neat category. At the moment I am writing them off as "sporty guy" purchases, but, um, those pedal caps are on my list. I do not intend to do anything that requires a major retrofit and megabucks, but even the little extras can add up!! I will be happy to share my list with you! :)

I also keep my cars for several year -- current car is a 1998 Cabrio. Since 1987 I have had 3 VW's -- I hope this one serves me as well.

You should still get your Eos in time for top down weather -- hope it all works out!

I haven't bought anything for my Eos-to-be...yet, but it's only a matter of time. I'm already thinking of what I'll get for my personalized license plate and some little things I'll need, like a new spill-proof (resistant?) coffee tavel mug, monster mats, etc. I just recently learned that oempl.us is located about 5 miles from my home. That could be really dangerous! Even though I don't travel much, those Eos suitcases are pretty cool....

Take two...

Got the call yesterday. The car that I wanted with all the bells and whistles, but was due for delivery to a different dealer, finally landed at that dealer's lot. The dealer I've been working with was able to trade for the car, and they'll be picking it up for me this morning! This was much faster than I expected, as they had originally told me it would be closer to the end of July.

So, we'll be driving over around noon (California time) to sign all the papers and take my new baby home!! :D

Touch wood for me that this time, everything's a go!

hi griffsmom
excellent news, hope all goes to plan.
buying an eos in america seems a very different set up to here in the uk, there are a few second hand ones about but they are quite scarce on the ground and of course your options are limited to what someone elses first choice had been.
i went to a vw dealership where i was lucky enough to have a test drive (not all uk dealerships have a demonstrator) upon deciding it was definitely the car for me i tried to close the deal, but the salesman had next to no play on the price even thou i was going for a list of optional extras as long as your arm. so i came away and started phoning around other dealerships, bingo i found a dealership that were open to negotiations and good fortune was it was only 15 minutes from my home. after agreeing on a far more favourable price i then placed an order for the car and listed below is what happened next.
keep us posted on your progress
all the best

wow

Looks like 3rd time was the charm. I was supposed to get the car yesterday, but the guy who was fetching it from the other dealer was late, so we rescheduled for this morning.

Well, this car was absolutely, positively, definitely worth the wait. It is perfect! I am virtually speechless at the power, smoothness of ride and comfort in driving this car. Of course, I drove back from the dealership with the top down and am so glad to be back in a convertible. I've had 3 verts before and vowed then that I'd never drive anything but. This Eos only reconfirms that! Will post pictures after my new baby's first bath. She got a little dirty on her way home today, and we all know, that just won't do for pictures. :D

Congratulations, as you say the wait was worth it, all part of the Eos experience, many happy EDAs to come.
Since you got a white one I expect it will spend a lot of time in the bath, but it's a labour of love!

regards,
