This am my TPMS light came on with the "Tire pressure too low!" warning. I haven't had the opportunity to check all the pressures, but none look or "feel" flat. I'll check it out in a few hrs at lunchtime. In the meantime, does anyone know at what pressure the light will come on? Also, is there any way from the in depth multi-function display to check out (while driving) which tire may be the culprit?

It will come on if you have any tyres changed or wheels rotated for any reason. Has it been in for service at all?

It's very easy to reset.

Only 6500 miles on the car. No recent service or tire rotation. I'm headed outside now to see how much air pressure is in them and see if I can find the culprit.

Good news. 30 psi all around so no flat tire. Just some cold air I guess and a good reminder to check my pressure more regularly and top up as necessary. According to the door sticker, it wants 33 psi all around which I can do when I get home. I'm impressed that the system is that sensitive to tell me to add the 3 psi. Even better is that my fuel economy should increase a bit with correct tire pressure!

Rathbod,
From my understanding there are 2 "low" pressure sensing systems used in the EOS.
The US gets the TPMS system that has a sensor in each wheel that sends the pressure reading to a control unit. I think it reports a problem if there is a 3psi variance from normal.
I don't think TPMS is available at all in Australia on the EOS. We get the system that uses ABS to check for differences in rotational speed of each wheel, which may be affected by uneven tyre wear.
Not sure which system you get in the UK.

Darren,
Be sure to check the pressure of your spare wheel if you have one.

As long as it is not a North American model. Ours measures air pressure. I had the same thing as Darren last winter. It was -2F and all my tires were 4PSI too low(30 instead of 34). Pumped them up to 34 and light went out. Also not a bad time to check the mini spare in the trunk if you have one. Found out that one was low as well.

I put the extra 3 psi in each tire and the light went out after about 1.5 miles of driving. I did forget the spare, but will check that in the morning! Thanks everyone!!!!

Mine is done by the ABS. I'm not sure but it seems if it cames with runflats factory fitted the TPMS system is done by ABS.

Can anyone tell me how to reset the tpms? I just got my Eos this week (used) and the light and message is on telling me that there is a low tire. I have checked all tires 3 times and they are all fine. I checked the spare, which was low, and added air to it and got it where it needs to be. Light and message are still on. I am thinking maybe they put new tires on the car and didn't reset the tpms. I don't want to have to take it in the a dealer just for that if it is something I can do myself.

Thanks!

It don't need to be reseted. Check tyres pressure and then press the button near ashtray for 4 seconds. Manual explains how to do it.

Peraphs some tyre or tyres were replaced without the tpms sensors. If you have runflats probably it is done by ABS.

Was the light on when you picked up the car or did it come on later. Some suggestions. Check the pressure after the car has been sitting overnight. If you can, borrow a known good second tire gauge. Set the pressure to 34psi for 16" and 17" or 37psi for 18". Again check the spare with the second air gauge and verify pressure is at what is marked on side of spare. Check and make sure that you have the correct valve stems on your tires. They should be metallic. If after you do all this you cannot get the TPMS light to go out, then a trip to the dealer may be in order. You could have a bad sensor or TPMS unit. The only person that can reset the system is the technician at the dealer who has to hook up their computer to the system. This is for US and I think Canadian Eos only.

Thanks Andy, I guess I will have to call the shop :( The light was on when the car was delivered - it was in Georgia and I live in Ohio so I had it transported to me. I have checked the tires both at night and first thing in the morning before I even move it. I always make sure I check when the tires are cold. I even bought a brand new digital tire guage thinking it was my cheapy $.99 one that was crap-ola. I guess I will call the local dealership.

Thanks for your help.

You're welcome. The dealer shouldn't give you any flack. It is considered a safety item and most states have rules about dealers selling a car with any problems in their safety and emissions systems.

I think the TPMS system works by measuring the revolutions of the wheels relative to the cars speed... there aren't sensors in tyres... You can use any (correctly rated) tyres...
Sometimes you will get false alarm if there is a temperature change, as this will change the relative RPM of the wheel and the car may think they tyre is slightly flat... Good rule is if it comes on, check tyres, if they are OK then reset it!

In EOS there is 2 types of TPMS, that one done by ABS installed in cars with runflats factory fitted (mine) and other one is by sensors at pressure filling valve.

Thanks, TPMS.

My first experience with TPMS about 10,000 miles ago seemed like a false alarm, just some cold weather setting off the reduced pressure but nevertheless a good reminder to check pressures often. My most recent experience with TMPS this am turned out to be the left rear tire with just 26 psi. The culprit was a nail which fortunately was removed, plugged, and all is well. Thanks TPMS for saving me from a flat at an inopportune time and for saving me from unnecessary wear!
