1. Why doesnt my eos have a light in the boot (trunk)?

2. Why do VW keep describing the eos as having a five piece folding roof when I only count three? Eg: sunroof, roof and back window.
Hey, have I got two pieces missing? :(

Cheers, David

Hadn't noticed the lack of light in the trunk yet, but as for 2). I expect they're counting the 'arms' that stretch alongside each side of the roof as the other pieces.

1.) My Eos has a trunk light right in the back end of the trunk right by the spot for the emergency triangle. Not sure about UK Eos models. You may have had a bag in front of the light...its pretty easy to block it by accident.

2.) 5 piece roof also counts the flaps that pop up on the sides when the roof is coming down I believe. I may be wrong on this however.

yes if you have aircon. there is key to switch this on/off in the glovebox
All Eoses have aircon (in the UK anyway but think everywhere?) hence a chilled glovebox too.

Also believe all Eoses have a light in the boot (trunk) exactly where others say. Put something in its way however and the boot remains dark...

I found this big chrome thing on the front of the centre console so I tugged it and you'll never guess what happened. The entire roof just vanished! Any ideas where it went and how I can get it back?

omg neh321 that must of freaked you out!! had heard the eos was a magic car and you have just proved all the rumours correct, a disappearing roof!! not in my lifetime lol.
there must of been some feature on your eos (apart from the roof) that you had never had before, and is a must for you from now on.
Know its not a gadget, but did like the way the vw badge doubled as a boot handle, how easily amused am i eh?

There are one or two little features I specially like that I'm not really used to having, yes. A chilled glovebox is one of them, although unless you have the aircon on (which you don't when the roof is down) it doesn't work, hence on a nice day, just when you need to keep that chocolate bar cool you can't!

I like the way the centre armrest can be moved for motorway driving then out of the way again when you need to change gear frequently. I also like the easy-entry system for rear-seat passengers (once you've mastered it!).

I do find the drinks holders annoying however as they are for lhd and not changed for rhd cars, which means if you have a water bottle in there it's right in the way of the gearchange hence I'm always throwing it on to the passenger seat from where it usually reaches the floor within about 15 seconds...

I also like the reversing monitors as I've clouted things which are below sight-level behind me before.

cheers neh 321 didnt know any of those things, a chilled glove box that only works when a/c is on, does that not rather defeat the object? hot day, roof down, a/c off need for chilled drink etc !!!!
movable armrest new on me.
easy entry for rear passengers, takes time to master? is this something that you have to have the upgraded seats for?
drinks holder for lhd model. brilliant not only is my drink going to be warm as unable to chill in glovebox, but it will be be decorating my car interior while i thumble to remove it from the holder!!
reversing monitors eh? bit of a must for me, as i have been known to reverse into a variety of objects, enough said move on!
did you ever find your roof neh? lol

You can keep the aircon on 'economy' when the roof is down as this will keep your glovebox cool and ensure you get some nice cool breeze when the weather is scorchio.

It won't as switching to 'Econ' cuts off the compressor hence... no aircon!

One way round the chilled glovebox is to put the aircon on but close all the vents except the one in the glovebox. That way you'd get a bar of frozen chocolate...

All Eoses have the easy-entry. I've had the car a year but my wife still hasn't mastered it.. But if you do it works brilliantly.

Yes - I opened the boot to put some shopping in and hey presto - there was the roof! Can't possibly be of much use in the boot so it beats me why the car has that feature.

The reversing aids are great but VW didn't give you them out of the goodness of their heart to make driving easier. No, the point is if you're too close to an object for the bootlid to swing back so you can drop the roof the reversing aids will bleep to tell you. You get them so that the boot doesn't swing back into a wall!

One feature I really like [how sad am I??] are the little red lights in the roof by the mirror that shine down onto the console at night when the lights are on. Have only driven a handful of times so far in 'proper dark' rather than urban environments, but it creates a really cool effect!

Now, you've got me worried so I'm off to check my roof hasn't popped off for a bit! At least I know where to look for it if it has, cheers Neh!

Dont forget the head lamp washers !

One of the many gadgets I struggled to work was the head lamp washers, they only pop out and blast a high powered jet of water on the headlamps when the lights are on and you select windscreen wash ! Very impresive to watch too !

when i ordered the car i was so bowled over by its wow factor , that to be honest when the dealer started reeling off all the extras and features i just had high pitched white noise in my head and the attention span of a 2 year old, i was on planet eos lol, and the brochure that i was sent home with is not really that brilliant on information but does have top pics.
will the reality live up to the dream??????

Hi Denny,
There are a lot of owners here who will guarantee you "YES" ... the reality will be even better than the dream. I've had mine lmost a year now, and never had a car for this long that I can hardly wait to drive each day. Still treat it like my baby! You are going to love it!

easy access for rear passengers please tell me ?as i find it quite stiff to push the front seat forward to let the kids in!
