I have just had my 20k service done and they have used BP Visco 3000, 10/40 oil. I'm a bit concerned about this as themake and model on my invoice i've just noticed is for 2.0 TDi. Looking at the handbook indicates different oils for petrol and diesel models.

Have they put the wrong stuff in? I can't find the info I want elsewhere on the web. Any help appreciated.

Cheers

Eos TFSI requires oil meeting VW quality standard 502.00, TDI requires oil meeting 504.00 / 507.00

TFSI uses 5W40, 5W30 or 0W40 meeting 502.00

Bad news, the oils that meet VW quality standards as of the Tech bulletin 17-08-01, January 2008 does not include the type of oil that they used, but some other BP oils are certified. I would make them replace the oil and filter with the right oil.

The 502.00 engine oil list includes only BP Visco 5000, 7000 Sport, 7000 TD, 7000 TD Sport, SP Professional EURO Plus, and BP EuroSpirit all in only SAE 5-40 weight.

Randy, put a complaint into service manager and he investigated and found the correct oil was used after all its just a typo on the invoice. Still a bit concerned though that when they enter my chasis number in the computer it shows up as a 140ps TDi. Checked back to my first service invoice and it was the same and I had not noticed.

You need to get that sorted out Graham in case some dingbat puts diesel oil in by mistake at a future service.
For topping up the VW garage told me to use Castrol Edge 5W-30W (fully synthetic and 'designed' for VW & Audi engines) about £15 litre from Halfords (ooh err!)

I will only use Mobil 1 0W/40... It's the best, but probably twice the price of the castrol! I use that for top ups, and I think the service centre use the Castrol as standard...

I also use ZX1 (formula 1 anto friction agent)... It's a proper one, not like slick 50 and all that PTFE rubbish! www.team-zx1.co.uk... I have used it on about 10 cars over about 10 years and it makes a remarkable difference!
