Hi all.
I've had my Eos for a week now and I've noticed a lot of road noise coming from my 18" chicago's. The noise was mainly from the rear, which has Dunlop tires, and as the front has Continental's I decided to swap and see if the noise improved/moved.
When I removed the rear wheels I noticed that the inside edge of both tires were worn and had no tread, but the rest of the tyre tread was fine. Also one of the tires has two splits in the side wall.
My questions are,, is this an mot failure?( as the garage Mot'd the car before sale).
Does this suggest a problem with wheel alignment?

Ps. The road noise moved completely from the rear to the front after swapping the wheels front to back.

If the tires are wearing like you say, I would get an alignment. Sounds like an incorrect camber setting. Good luck

Have you looked at an EOS from behind on the road? Lots of negative camber on the rear, not surprising we get more wear on the inside edge. There has been a few threads on this subject on this forum already.

Thanks for the info.
I took it back to the dealer who checked the alignment and found that it was fine. I then checked the maintenance history and it said that the rear tires were originally on the front when the car had a tracking issue. They swapped them to the back because although worn, were still legal.
The dealer has now replaced the tires as a good will gesture, well it does help that my mrs works there.
All quiet again now, gotta love those continental sports.

Hi Steve incorrect pressure in the tyre can result in ware like you said, if you have two slpits then i would look at replacing them or bulge in the tyre also give you that as well
