Ipod and Bluetooth for RNS 510
You can connect an Ipod up to the touchscreen, using the new MDI adaptor, which fits in the armrest on the EOS instead of the CD changer.
I fitted one to my car, which I bought from Germany
(Kufatec).
Here is the Kufatec kit and the plug and play harness.
I had to change the plastic shell of the armrest for one that had a bigger slot in it to let the MDI adaptor fit inside (it was only £25 from my VW dealer). I also had to buy the cable to connect the Ipod to the MDI interface, because the Kufatec kit only comes with a USB connector.
Here are the part numbers
5N0 035 341 A - MDI interface w/USB cable
000 051 446C - Cable for IPOD
1K0 863 323L 71N - Grey Plastic Armrest shell to house CD changer
Harness is plug and play into the back of the RNS 510, with just one easy cable to route along the side of the transmission tunnel into the underside of the MDI adaptor. Then it all fits back into the armrest slot.
You have to have version A or higher of the RNS 510 for the MDI to work (the older ones don't support the MDI device and can't be upgraded). Also, you should make sure you upgrade RNS 510 firmware to the latest version 1020 as there are a number of annoying bugs when using the MDI with older firmware
When it is installed, you can fully control the ipod from the touchscreen
And artist and songtitle info are also displayed on the multifunction display between the speedo and the tacho. It fully integrates with the multifunction steering wheel on the Eos.
I am thinking about installing this Bluetooth kit, which also gives full touchscreen control through the RNS 510 screen.
Fiscon RNS 510 Navi-line Bluetooth plug and play adaptor for VW Eos.
I have heard good reports of it in the EOS.
