My Eos has the basic RCD 300 head unit fitted. I want to upgrade this to the RCD 510 touch screen head unit but cannot get a simple answer from my local VW dealership as to if it is simply " a plug and play" installation of if configuration changes are required in the ECU/VAG.com. I understand that I'll need a set of aerial adaptors. Any advice would be much appreciated.

As far as I'm aware, it is simply a matter of plug and play.

The only potential problem is actually getting one!
You won't be able to get an after-sale upgrade unit - well, not easily anyway.

There is that expense to get the radio plus install. There is some Vag-com programming needed. There is a full writeup for that install done by a US owner at http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=4207134
