Hi
Still haven't taken the time to post the pics of my 3 weeks-old EOS.
Very happy about it (she's beautiful)... Yet I have a little worry: Some sort of vibrations seem to come out of the trunk or of the rear seats, especialy when driving relatively slowly... Anybody with such experience and a cure?
cheers,
Fred

It comes from the rear left hand side normally.. I have it in mine and I know others who have it.... I just put up with it as isn't too bad and I know others who have had the car back to the dealer so many times.... One day I will get my wife to drive and I will sit in the back and work out where it is coming from... I will then deal with it by way of whatever is necessary... It will probably require some kind of lubrication of the catches or the rubbers that the hard bits of the roof mechanism sit on...

Will let you guys know when I figure it out!

Don't know if this will help, but what position is your sun shade in for the sunroof? The plastic supports for the shade fold up inside the roof when it is open and may rattle when it is pushed back. Mine did this and it come from the back when it vibrated. A simple fix was when it is open to close it slightly and the noise stopped.

Just a stab, hope it is the answer for you.

Hard to tell from your post where the noise is coming from but check out this link. The mystery rattle was as a result of the gas tank/filler neck assy.

I wouldn't even speculate that you have the same issue, but who knows.
I once had a rear muffler heat shield that was rubbing and yet it sounded like it was coming from the engine area. Go figure.

My minor rattle is coming from the top (I think) of the rear window on the UK Passenger Side (USA Drivers Side).....

I feel that if I hold the window it may stop and, therefore, be some kind of mechanism arm support which resis on something that perhaps needs adjusting very slightly...

When I get a change of a babysitter, I'm going to get my wife to drive me around whilst I sit in the back and try and work out what it is...

If and when I do, I will report back.... I'm certainly not going to sent it to the dealer.. I know it is better to put up with it than risk them making it worse!! I know someone who has sent car back 3 times for this and still not fixed... Worst case, I will just put up with that, it only really happens of rough road anyway.

I get a clunking once in a while back there if I hit a pot hole but nothing too bad. But when I get the car washed, now there's a different story. There are some really noticible clunks and rattles when water gets in the trunk seams. Once it dries out it's fine but it's a bugger for about 15 minutes after the wash.

Thanks to all for your answers... Indeed, what I've read on this other forum (sthg with the gas tank) could be it... I'll take my pretty baby car to the technician within the next 10 days... They had a look at it this morning and promessed they'd fix any noise or vibration... Wait and see...

I tend to get a rattle from somewhere in the roof above the rear seats. Never been driven in the car so haven't explored further.

Also, mine does make a lot of noise with the roof up. I should probably visit dealer before warranty expires.

Actually, also lately there's a squeal from the cable that operates the 'wing' panel that pops out when then the panel is being pulled back in.

I had the same problem with a rattle or thumping sound especially at low speeds. It came from the left side. My 2009 would not make the sound with the roof down and the sunroof position didn't change anything. After leaving it with my dealer for four (4) days they discovered an extra shim, three (3) instead of two (2), was used in the roof mechanism that altered the clearances needed between a structural element of the roof assembly. They had to remove the headliner and ride around for hours before they found it.

My car received a shim removal to fix this problem. There is a dealer service bulliten out for this fix. I also had a bolt that was loose that they retightened to spec. Things come loose with the constant vibration the car recieves from road inperfections and minimal body flexing that happens with a convertible.
I just think that a hard top convertible with all it's moving parts is going to require extra love and attention over the course of it's life.
