This news has spurred me on to order my dream Eos for 08 plate delivery. After much research, reading, testing and dreaming I have fallen off the fence and put my money down.
As I am known by my friends for wanting a deal, boy did I struglge with my local dealers, as they thought £500 off was more than generous! no need to discount or offer extra freebeeies as they boast they can sell all the stock they can get. I always relish a challange so I turned to the internet, to swim with sharks I hear you cry! NO to my surprise and eventual joy I found
www.mycarquotes.co.uk
a free service that connects genuine buyers with committed sellers, you choose the car, options, etc you want then the dealers quote their best price, you choose which dealer you want an introduction to, I used price and location to decide. My car quotes called me to confirm my details and requirements and about 3hrs later my selected main VW dealer called me to confirm his offer price based on a factory order and expected delivery window. We spoke at length and I changed my options on his advise, I added lifeshine as it was offered . I was impressed, we did a deal, I have saved a small fortune, I am now waiting for the end of March and my 2.0 tdi sport dsg in Leonie blue to arrive.
I know this is only the begining of the story but I am confident that I have maded good safe choices with the car and dealer but my thanks belong to My Car Quotes as they offer a brilliant service which is totally free to use, well worth a try as you have nothing to loose and plenty of cash to save. I found this service to be stress free and in no way intimidating unlike some salesmen I could name. Good luck to you all.I will update as time marches on.

Though you save money doing it that way is it not a problem with distance should anything require fixing under the warranty and you have to take it back? Could be a real problem if its broken down.
Or is it a case that you can just take it in to your local dealer for repair (or call for recovery)?

You're not tied to the supplying dealer for warranty repairs. Any VW dealer should do them (it's VW who pay after all and most dealers love warranty repairs because they can charge the earth for them!)

Hi

I've followed boac69's suggestion and have obtained a quote via mycarquotes - very impressed with their way of operating and I have been put in touch with a dealer. All I can say is that I am very happy with the price being quoted !!

I've not signed up yet - need to sleep on it and check with the boss at home and the dealer is going to check their allocation for March 08 delivery so that they can be sure that they can deliver as promised. So far so good and I'll let you all know as and when I take the plunge.

I wish you luck with the Boss, mine is the family banker and as the request was for a boys toy a possible problem ? but she saw the deal and the size of the smile on my face and approval was granted.
I hope your boss says yes too and your dream becomes realality.

The Boss has given her blessing provided I get the Eos suitcases thrown in as part of the deal. Downside is I need to fly to Bristol and then take a train to collect the car but the Boss can be persuaded that that's a reason to have a nice overnight in a hotel before we drive Eos 2 back up to Glasgow !!

It's a great deal - I just hope the car is right !! Oh and the dealer confirmed that their allocation for 2007 is used up and that mine will be ordered in January for end March delivery.

I'll keep you posted guys.

I didnt know about the website that boac69 mentioned when I bought my EOS 10 days ago, but I did end up travelling 200 miles to collect it.

I bought the car from the lake district and booked a lovely hotel for my husband and I to stay overnight. Collected the car Saturday morning and spent the rest of the day cruising the lakes, eating good food and chilling out. Having the weekend away (no kids) made picking up the car more special and we certainly enjoyed the drive back.

It sounds as if me and your wife are on the same wavelength!

Enjoy!:D

boac69 - thanks for the tip my husband has just got a quote of 1500 off his next car (Golf Edition 30). :)

I presume you are not trading in a car as well as getting a discount?
Was it just a straight purchase? leaving you to sell your old car?

Yes my wife never misses a chance for a trip, even tho' I'd probably be better taking my petrolhead brother (but I'll not say that to her!!) LOL.

Gogg - I don't have a trade in - we have a family 7 seater for daily transport and you might have seen from my other posts that I have just rejected my Eos and obtained a full refund from the dealer (long story short!) - hoping for better luck this time around.

Hi Graham
Sorry for the time taken to reply, you are right its a straight forward purchase as I will sell the wifes old mk1 A3 tdi auto after the Eos has been delivered to us, its not worth a lot as its 10years old so why spoil a deal. Our previous experiance of new Audi / VW's has allways been later than promised never earlier, we will be pleasently surprised if it comes before the end of April, its promised for the end of March. VW have price protected the order as it was placed and accepted prior to the price rise in Jan 08.

My experiance with " www.mycarquotes.co.uk " has been first class, highly professional right down to them seeking feedback and suggestions for improvement to their service. The same can be said of the main dealer I chose to work with from the 4 or so quotes I recieved, but to be fair to them they have a more difficult job to do, as they have to produce the Eos to the aggreed spec within the contractual time frame.
I will report further as time progresses.

1st Update

Today my supplying dealer called to confirm that my Eos was going to be built in week 5, the end of January and should be available for collection in early to mid March.
I am really impressed, having read other members accounts of long delivery times. I know this is only an expectation but so far so good, considering I did not sign the contract until 18 Dec 07 having paid a deposit on 11 Dec 07. I now need to expedite my cherished plate retention in case the Eos arrives even earlier, ready for the start of the 08 plate season.
May my luck continue, all to be revealed in further updates.

2nd Update

Today I received a letter dated Friday 01Feb08 from my supplying dealer stating that my Eos had been built and was waiting shipment to the UK, again I am really impressed. The DVLA have also come up trumps as they have completed a cherished mark transfer in less than 2 weeks, so I am looking good for March and the 08 plate season.

Reading Stephb’s experience in Wigan I seem to have struck gold with www.mycarquotes.co.uk and my chosen dealer who “offered” the sort of discount Stephb is talking about before the January price rise.

I hope my luck continues, all to be revealed in further updates.

3rd update

My luck is holding up, my Eos is waiting for me to collect her from the dealership any time after the 1st March, due to personal events this is going to have to wait until the 6th. I am totally over the moon that my car is here and its earlier than promised! well done VW and Nathan at VW Cheltenham.
9 days and counting, then I get to play with all the toys. I have seat drawers, chrome strips and mud flaps to fit on a wet day in my garage.
I will now start praying for sunshine!

Regards Graeme

You don't need the sunshine Graeme, just a dry day! Already been 'topless' a few times this year so far. Deflector up, bum warmers on and a big smile on the face is all you need. Good luck for the 6th.

4th Update

We arrived at the dealership after a nice lunch with friends at the agreed time to be warmly met by Nathan the saleman I had only ever spoken to, he took us to our car, perfectly presented for handover, bright, shiney and very clean inside and out, he proceeded to demonstrate how every thing worked and I mean every thing, then on to the paperwork and money, no problems with switch payments so in just over 2hours we were on our way home, back to good old Sussex after a quick feedback chat with the business manager.

This should have been about 100 mile trip but it was so nice and comfortable and easy to drive we got carried away and did a small diversion for 50m to savour the experience. I cant now see running in as being a problem just a pleasure. I was really impressed with the zenons which seem to be better than our A3's and the slow turn lights just made turning in to our drive seem like daylight no more wondering where the gatepost has gone.

We are both "made up" with our Eos buying adventure it has gone better than I dared dream it could be, based on previous VAG experience. A factory order to my spec delivered early! with a big saving on list price! by Cheltenham VW who kept me informed every step of the way and seemed to genuinely care about my satisfaction, what more could I want ????

I think this concludes my orginal thread and I will start a new one with EDA's and dealer experiences etc.
