Fantastic. Followed the instructions and installed like a dream. NOT going to use when the car is moving so left that setting at zero, but one touch opening and closing, and from the remote is excellent. I've also set the doors to lock when driving off and unlock when the ignition is turned off (had that on my tt and liked it). The park assist mirror has a delay in operation and fiddly to set correctly, mind you I've never been a big fan of that function on any car. Overall brilliant :D

BTW does anyone take their's out when car goes to the dealer or do you just switch if off?

I just turn mine off when it goes to the dealer. I too have had a hard time adjusting the park assist mirror feature.

All,

I was wondering about this, the remote lib up/.down would be nice, but sine mine is an Individual, which already has the reverse mirror and auto-lock enabled, I did not bother. It is a shame that VW don't program the remote top feature but I guess there are several countries where it is against some health and safety legislation (imagine a small child being in, not strapped in and putting fingers in the wrong place) that they cannot.

Mind you, they could program the logic to check for seat occupancy (weight sensors in the seats that drive the seatbelt warning light), and only enable it if the car were empty....

Go on, VW, make that a firmware upgrade and you would probably get a lot of takers!

Cheers

I turn mine off too when it is at the dealer. Even without the tilt mirror, i think the smarttop is still worth it. I have no problem with the tilt mirror, it takes a second yes but i just put the car in reverse, check the area, and by that time the mirror is down. I think mine is set to +3 and resets fine. I love this feature as I always worry about curbing my wheels when parking next to a curb, especially parallel parking.

Did yours just not work correctly or didn't it come with all the right wiring and such?

Ross
It came with everything (wires, connectors, module and instructions)

I connected it to my computer and set it up fine. I took apart the trunk lining and connected as instructed by the paper instructions in came with. After connecting the module I pressed the unlock as instructed to wake up the module to confirm it was working and nothing. (when I set it up on the computer, the small LED was working) I did have a problem with finding the red/yellow wire as I looked at all the wires and could not find it. The closet wire was an orange and yellow so I tapped that. I made sure both neg and pos connections were fitted correctly (as stated in the instructions).

I emailed them about maybe a new color code for 2010+ cars and they suggested I take a photo. Well, I have already put everything back together and will require another 2hours to just take a picture and maybe retry again. Its not something I'm looking forward too - to be honest.

I had Hazzydayz try and fit the smarttop to my 2010 Eos,Nope, the electrics have changed, none of the features will work even though the tech was on the phone to customer support for smarttop,it even cost me £100 + VAT in labour, even though it wasn't succesfully installed, because i supplied the module.I am getting my money back for the module,I think I should get the labour cost back as well because even a chap from customer support admitted it would never have worked in a 2010 car,but the supplier told me it would, which is why i bought it.

I will have a unit from germany fitted at some point, the new cruise control works just fine

Smart Top

I have a 2008 EOS and after reading all the positive revues on the site, I am really interested in getting one. My question is how hard was it to install, were there any major issues and do all the features on your module work?

Thanks for your advice and experience!

30-45 min to install, just to make sure to order the module with t-wiring harness. The wiring harness makes the installma piece of cake.

Only issues I had was to pesky plastic plugs holding the lining in place, some refused co-operation and had to remove then in a way that left some marks on them. Cheap bits to replace if worried about such a small cosmetic details.
