We have been without our EOS for over 4 weeks with problems from water in the boot. Soaking carpets and condensation in car as well as damp musty smell. At our latest visit to our EOS at the workshop we saw no less than 5 other EOS cars all awaiting attention. VW have agreed to replacing all the seals with a new design and new seals were being fitted to another EOS in the workshop. We are not happy with the way this has been handled and we will be seeking some sort of official recognition of the problem as well as compensation for the time without the vehicle. We are aware of the water problem on the door sills also, but that is more annoying at the moment than anything else, although we would like to pursue any comebacks if this is going to be recognised as a significant problem for the future.

Hi folks, so sorry to hear about your problem. :( 4 weeks is a disgusting length of time.
Has the dealer explained to you how the water was getting into the boot ?

The reason I ask is that my Eos suffered from internal condensation, with water dripping on the inside of the windows, which was eventually found to be caused by the spare wheel well being full of water.
The water was found to be entering in behind the left hand side rear light cluster, through a faulty joint where the left hand side rear wing meets the rear panel.
It took the dealer 8 days to find and fix the leak and to re-assemble all the bits that were removed.
To date, my car has remained water tight, but I do check the boot area every day when it has rained and every time that I wash the car, as I have almost no confidence that the water won't return.

Leak in boot

Well at least I do not feel alone in this.....I am so sorry that you are going through the same thing;I am so frustrated! My story is a long one so here is a brief summary:
My car has been in the garage since the 13th of December[I bought mine in August 2006]of last year with the same problem. The lock has now had to be replaced due to the leak causing the locking mecahnism to fail. It has failed the water test at least twice and they cannot find out what the problem is........ By the way I live in Scotland,[rain, rain, rain], so it has to be water tight! It's amazing that I can actually get the roof down!. I also felt like a Dim Sum because of all the condensation inside.
Part after part has had to be ordered form Germany. And to add insult to injury,my dealership is the roof specialist for this region:eek: .So if they can't fix it,who can? I have now had to put my foot down and send a load of rude emails:mad: and requested for a replacement car.I know this is not a guarantee against a further leak but I love the car and driving a replacement 1.9 Golf is definately not the same:( .
You need to ask your dealer;mine are pretty good but I think that there are more problems than they are ready to admit to in this car regarding the leaks

Leak in boot/trunk/Replacement Car

Well people I must say that I am very impressed with "the Brand":)
They could not fix the leak in the boot/trunk so,today, I just received a brand new Eos[black 2.0 TDi sport] with complimentary heated leather seats and a windbreaker:cool: I still cannot beleive it!
I had to throw a few tantrums initially but it was pretty smooth running from then on. Here's to a warm Bum:D!
I advise that if you have any problems with your dealer go striaght to the top and don't look back! A few tantrums and nippy emails won't go amiss!
It's great to have my car back. Enjoy everyone.........It's getting warmer in Scotland now so maybe with the winbreaker/heating and heated seats we may be able to have the top down this weekend:D

Still water in the Boot aaahhhh

Well we had our Eos back a couple of weeks ago, having been away for a month and having all the seals removed around the boot and replaced with the modified versions. Then it rained....... Car smells of cat's pee again, windows misty and the boot is damp and wet. We have been carefully monitoring other sites relating to VW and the Eos and this really is a significant problem that we don't feel has as yet been properly addressed by VW. They have hung a hefty price tag on the Eos (in comparison to the competition) and can supposedly justify that because of the badge, unless they shape up VW will lose credibility and the VW badge will be worthless. Reputation is not merely based on the product, it also includes the customer care and we would serioulsly think twice before buying another VW. We also own a VW touareg, so we have spent some serious money with them in the last couple of years and we don't normally complain and we accept every car has its teething problems..the Touareg had many but all were minor.
We don't know whether we want to see our Eos again, now that it has gone back to the workshop, can anyone give us inspiration??? we liked the idea of the new model with all the extras, but have VW got it right yet?

leak

Hi Rog/Caz

I am so sorry:( for the grief that your car is causing because I've been there and done that since last year.

My advice would be to ask for a replacement and involve trading standards as well.....VW and the dealership seem to sit up when this happens.Ask to speak to the aftersales manager and if no joy:( there contact VW UK...add in a few tantrums/lose the plot a few times:mad: .....if you are not in the UK ,they will have contact numbers for other countries....I have not lost faith in the brand but in the car I got.....my replacement is great especially with the "free extras" and has not leaked.......yet.......It has really rained over here since I collected it ...so my fingers are still crossed...it is a car worth having and enjoying....so do give it a second chance.....

I hope you both don't have to suffer for too much longer:)
