was hoping to get some info on products and the how-to, i'm staying in an apartment complex and was wondering the best way to detail with out water, or at least to keep the car looking good.. i don't have any access to a garden hose so the only way to wash the car is to go to a car wash, which i don't want to use every time... specially with the high pressure water or the rubber brushes that there using now... thanks for any info

Maybe you could make an arrangement with a detail shop for washing only at a reasonable fee. I'm in the Seattle area and the major car wash operation here also has stalls where you can wash the car yourself. They have a hose that has a lot of pressure, but with one of these, "angling" the hose should keep the water from hitting the "seams" in the room. The roof is the only place you have to worry about with high pressure.

ProShine

Hi,

I've been testing out ProShine which is a waterless cleaning solution. I wouldn't use it on a really grubby/muddy car, but on road dust its fine. I have a Black Eos and it comes up really clean. It takes about a 1/2 hour to do the lot.

I got mine off eBay in the UK but I'm sure they sell it in the US. You need to use MicroFibre cloths and wear gloves, but the results are impressive. There is a clip on YouTube that's a bit over the top but does give you the idea. If even 'feels' clean.

I use Meguiars instant detailer. As above, excellent for road dust and the minor squashed bug, but for anything else it is a no no. Microfibre cloth gives it a nice finish.

Halfords at the moment have a deal on. Buy any three items of car cleaning items from any range and get the cheapest free of charge.

Saved myself £9.99, not much but it is a couple of beers.

Rob.

ps hope the weather stays good for dubs in the park, i wanna see pics guys, have a great day.

Seriously, I would suggest that any form of waterless cleaning is a no no. I have seen the result of using a waterless system and the actual shine was terrific but......... look at the paintwork from an angle with the sun on it and marvel at the inticate pattern of fine scratches resembling a complex spiders web that resulted. Nuff said!

Agree 100%.
They're always desperately looking for new products to sell you that you didn't even know you needed but you just can't do without... but there's nothing like the old bucket and sponge really!

I have similar issues with getting water to the car, I would need 80 metres of hose pipe to get water close enough to wash my car!!
I dont like the drive through car washes as I have seen the damage they can do, and wouldnt risk the Eos anyway.
I have a mobile cleaning service who come to the house once a month, he has a fully equipped van with water tank, generator for pressure wash, vacuum cleaner and carpet shampoo, and a van full of potions and lotions to keep things looking good.
Every visit I get pressure wash for wheels and under the arches, hand wash of the body work with drying off and a polish, glass inside and out as well as hoover inside and surfaces cleaned and shampoo the mats to keep them clean. Car always looks fantastic afterwards and if you average the cost out it is less than a pound a day.
For the aggravation it saves me I am happy to pay as I see this as protecting my investment.

Tim
