Worth bearing in mind silvershadow that only TB's issued by VW UK can be actioned by UK dealers. When I had my leak, I printed off a copy of a TB showing how to fix that particular leak, and they would not act on it because it was issued by VW US.

This is incredible if it is true - cars made in one factory and shipped to different parts of the world do not have the same problems?

I would be interested in what the UK consumer protection authorities would make of this if you referred an unsolved problem with a copy of the relevant TB to them.

I can guarantee you it is true. My leak was dripping down onto the flat hinged flaps either side of the rear passenger seats. I found a TB on the vortex site, and after the third attempt failed to fix it, I went in to the dealer with a copy. I later received a curt e mail from the service manager informing me they could not use the information because it was not sanctioned by VW UK. Utter madness. So despite being given a copy of the solution, they continued to be unable to fix the problem, which resulted in me rejecting the car. Fools.

As each day passes and new posts appear on the forum from around the world, it appears to me that the UK members have a problem with their VW dealer network which is not shared to the same extent by those of us elsewhere in the world [or is it due to the fact that our UK friends are more vocal in complaining ???? ].

Perhaps VW International should consider auditing the experience, skills and ability of their service dealers in the UK and undertaking remedial training/withdrawing the franchise as appropriate. If the present situation with the Eos is a fair representation of the overall service provided to UK VW owners then this is not in VW's best interest as far as holding let alone increasing their market share in the UK.

I don't have a whole lot bad to say about my dealer. I think the level of service provided by the dealer is highly dependent onthe info and training provided by VW corporate. There is a long chain for any info to go up or down. If my dealer has an issue, they contact VW America who forwards it to VW in Germany. There may be someone else in the chain I may have forgotten. Eos is sold in many markets and has several variations but they all share the same body/chassis which should have the same issues worldwide. If any problems occurs in one part of the world, it should be seen worldwide. If the info doesn't get to VW in Germany then it doesn't have a database to disseminate the info to other VW regional offices. In this case VW UK won't honor the VW of America TSBs because they haven't been told to by VW headquarters. It isn't an excuse just the way I see it. But what do I know?

Interesting, this is a problem I have which I'm going to take to my local dealer to get fixed in the new year, we shall see what they have to say and how long it takes me to get it sorted.
On a similar point, I took the Eos in because I had a rattle. No biggy but it was from behind the dash so I expected it to be a long job. After two weeks at the dealer I got it back, the original rattle was cured but they found something was broken and that was causing another rattle so a replacement part was required. No replacement in the UK so it will be with us in the new year. So far I have had to pay 2 weeks insurance on a courtesy car which I intend to challenge and they said they wanted me to pay when the new part is fitted but have now agreed not to charge us. We shall see what the outcome of this is and I will report back!

Seems to me that your Dealer is competing in the Crap VW Dealer of the Year awards. Looks like they have a fighting chance of winning...

My wifes 08 Sport had water retention on seals. Did the mod as photo posted earlier and now drains away. Thanks for the info, very easy to do and well worth it

Bit late I know but an update on my dealer.

They have had problems with their customer relations recently, mainly that they were rubbish!
On the up side they did not charge us for the insurance.
But whilst it was in to get a rattle from the dash sorted (turned out to be the rear view mirror ) I asked them to do the service that was due. When the mirror was sorted the car was returned to the house for us and there was no bill for the service but there was a bill for 749 quid for the work that was done.
No, that's not right, get on the phone and they say it's an error. Yes I know! So how much was the service. Oh, um, yes, we forgot. Well b*gger me, I could have guessed that would happen. Yes, well we're dreadfully sorry, we'll collect the car and do the service tomorrow if that's OK and please accept it free and with our compliments.
So that was some consolation I guess and they do wash it and hoover it out, I just hope they krytox the roof seals lol
