Well I spent 3 hours at the dealership yesterday for two issues:
1) Craking noise coming from the passenger door speakers - diagnosed as a fault with the RCD500 stereo which was ordered in from Germany 7 weeks ago. I told them at the time that in my opinion as an electronic engineer this was unlikely to fix the problem and they should be looking at wiring. They fitted the new stereo yesterday and guess what.... instant crackles.
2) Xenon headlamp levelling all over the place and very hard to drive at night. This was their 3rd attempt at fixing this and guess what.... they failed again.
They then said that they wanted the car for a day to try again. This was followed by 'actually we will need it for 3 days' and then by 'actually, we will keep it for as long as we need to fix it' and then by 'Actually, wWe will take it to our Chelmsford branch as they have an EOS specialist there, oh... but they can't look at it for almost 3 weeks'.
WHAT A JOKE!!!
My argument is that I paid almost £1000 for an upgraded stereo system that I have not been able to use in the 8 or so weeks that I have owned the car and that I paid £700 odd for the Xenons which I cannot use after dark without fear of not being able to see where I am going.
It was at this point that I was so, let's say 'upset' that I told them where they could shove their wonderful EOS and that I wanted either a replacement or a full refund.
The dealership manager came out and managed to calm me down a little and I have agreed to give them a final chance to fix it. They have kept the car and lent me a Golf 1.4 TSi (170bhp but you have to work it hard).
If they return the car next week with the same problems then I will reject it and I have already made this known to both the dealer and VW head office.
