The VW info status screen in the center of the dash guage area has a number of options to display. Some of them are:
- time elapsed (trip)
- avg speed (trip)
- avg mpg (trip)
-current mpg (this instant)
- miles to empty
- warning speed
- and a couple of others I am forgetting.

I find that none of these are particulary useful to be displayed all the time.
On a trip, I 'll set the display to avg mpg, but that isn't of much interest when driving around town, wheere I do many short trips.

I wish there was an option to display current speed-- that would actually be useful. (I'm really hoping someone will say there is a software update available that will add this capability.) Absent that, I usually leave the display set to show instantaneous mpg, mostly for the entertainment value. It changes too oftento be much real use, but it can be fun to see your Eos getting 198 mpg, if only for an instant.

So, what do you "watch"??

I have mine on Miles to Empty. I love it that I can get 500-600 miles out of a tank in a car that's so much fun to drive.

I have the SAT Nav / Compass / Road Name up as the road name isn't displayed on the actual map!!!
I also alternate between average mpg and real time mpg to save a few pennies during this credit crunch:eek:

I'm very sad, I have mine set on time elapsed. For regular journeys I always try to beat my fastest time. Told you I was sad.

"Miles" - what are miles?

Even in the antipodes we have kilometres!

I love to reset my odometer and as the tank empties; add it to the "kilometres to empty and get over 1000km for the tank.

Sadly the algorithims tease me and the combined number drops as does the fuel - and I never get more than 900km when I have to refuel.

Even when the combined number is close to 1200km in the early stages.

Constantly switching between distance to empty (this should avoid any metric vs. imperial squabbles:)) and average fuel economy, with the occasional glance at current fuel economy.

Like Geoff, I like to keep the sum of distance to empty + trip odometer above a certain level. Always get excited when it goes up but invariably end up with a lower number.

I'm with those who say "instantaneous MPG" and then "Miles to empty" when I get close to empty.

But, I have seen references to audio mode with the control steerin gwheel, which I guess I need to find out how to set up as I would probably do that. Any clues? Is it hidden in the manual somewhere?
