Hi Steph

You dont say what the garage are saying isnt covered. Your car is still under warranty so I would say pretty much everything should be covered with the exception of consumables such as tyres, windcreen wipers etc or damage not attributable to a manufacturing defect or failure. Unlikely to be the latter as we all look after our babies dont we!!

By the way, how did you get on with your competition last month?

Cheers

Hi Tim,

Basically I was told by VW today that my seals are not under warranty! I thought that they were is everyone else under the same impression? But what can I say it is VW WIGAN! Also I need my front wheels aligning at a cost of £161!!!! I told them to run and jump and if I wanted the seals lubricating by them it would be £49! I said I would do it myself.

I have got to the stage now with VW Wigan that I am going to make a complaint after having my car in and out for various things and being fobbed off with there is nothing wrong with it and you must like us having your car more than you like having it! I've had enough.

On a lighter note I won the competiton and ordered my stuff today :) So thankyou to everyone who voted for me

Well they are covered under warranty

I got a 07 Eos in May this year from Smith Knight Fay in Bolton

had a small leak into the car from roof seals of which they replaced under warranty

With all the rain we have had it has been tested thoroughly and OK

Had one dealing with Wigan back in 1994 when it was Corkhills
And I cancelled a new Golf because they were lying to me about the colour
also got a friend who has a problem with his car and is not Happy with them at the moment and is still ongoing

So it's not just me then who has a problem with vw wigan it is still corkhills too.

They lied to me from day 1 I should of cancelled it and gone somewhere else. Like I ordered the 6 disc multichanger when the car came and i tried to put more than 1 disc in i realised that it wasn't and that it was just singular!

The list is endless about them! So this is the final straw with them

I took my baby in for a 15000km service last week and commented that I had a bit of a wind whistle, that appeared to be coming from the weather seal joint between the A pillar and the roof on the drivers side.

When I picked the car up they said they had Krytoxed all the weather seals, as they thought that may have been the cause - no item on the invoice for it - so they must have charged VW.

Generally a dealer will do anything under warranty as long as they can pass the cost onto the manufacturer - it is when the manufacturer will not recompense the dealer, that the dealer starts to dodge and weave.

The Warranty work can be done at any dealership

like I said to my mate go to another dealer you are not tied to them

I know its 15 years ago but they told me they could get me a Black brand new golf for the 1st of August when the new reg was starting

Then phoned a few days later to say we had a choice of red, blue or white standard colours they had in stock and told us you just can not always have the colour you want and that the black was not even in the country at any dealers

well we went out that day and found a car in the show room the exact model and colour in Manchester

and phoned wigan from the sales desk in Manchester and cancelled car
and was threatened by salesman as I had entered into a contract with them

I wrote a letter confirming cancellation with reasons and heard nothing else from them and got the car we wanted on time from Manchester

probably same regime in charge although different people in showroom

Seems like you need to find a new dealer. Would consider complaining to VW uk though, as dealers are franchised and if they provide a bad service VW could take the franchise off them. You may not be the only disgruntled customer. Makes me glad that my local dealer is so good, they have been great for everything I have been in for, and have not quibbled over warranty work once.

Good luck

In USA we are out of luck after 1 year for anything that is trim or appearance related - as I found out the hard way when trying to get VW to address a small fingernail size piece of paint that popped off one of my Samarkind wheels.

Think we are same way here with seals, too. Exception would be one of the things documented in a TSB where dealers are warned about roof seal related things that were done wrong in Portugal at the factory that dealers are allowed to fix and be reimbursed for.

Replacing seals would be covered under warranty if they are faulty, but just maintaining them will not be a warranty item. Having said that, my dealer has always lubricated them free of charge when I have asked, but it can't be described as 'under warranty'. However, if there has been a leak attributable to the seals and lubricating them is the solution, then that would be 'under warranty' (because it's not just normal maintainence).

Clear as mud?!

I Guess that what I was referring to.

I didn't compain about the seals - it was the wind noise - having said that although the dealer krytoxed the seals (I know they did, cos it's bled all over the glass) the whistle is still there - depending on the weather.

If the seals are good - no water leaks or noise - if not - its a warranty problem. (if all Eos' leaked and had wind noise problems - the dealer could pass it off as a design problem - if you wants the car, you puts up with the issue - but iof its a car by car issue - it's warranty.

As V6 Bandit says - go to another dealer - as long its genuine warranty - they will happily do it, as VW pays them for it and it helps to pay the workshop overhead.
