What's in a name (model)

Hi All,

I was considering the name Eos and how it came to be associated with a car. Due to the Sun God, Eos and the cars lack of roof it seems appropriate but perhaps looking at the parts used it could have been called the "PassGo", since parts come from both the Passat and the Golf.

(Of course it will be in North America due to difference in branding).

Anyone else come up with some other ideas?

PS for those in the UK, tomorrow looks like a day where we can get the top down at last!

I am guessing your first guess is correct. When I first saw the car's name I thought of the Canon Eos Camera and was surprised.
Hi All.......

I hope you are correct; I'm picking mine up at 10:00 :p

Cheers,
Pete.
Best of luck with the new car. Whats your specification?
GOgg, bog standard EOS TDi I'm afraid; which, compared to many other cars is not bad at all.
Just because its standard means nothing, it's still miles better than the others out there like Renault, Vauxhall & Peugot equivalents and 'What Car' seems to agree. I must admit that its one of the nicest cars I have ever owned.

I'm sure you will feel the same, lets know what your intial impressions are.

Cheers
Yeah I agree with Gogg, an eos (any spec) wipes the floor with the competition! Guess you will have picked yours up by now Pete and will have been driving around all day! hope you are enjoying it and post some pictures for us!!! :D
Funny story with the name...

I went to test drive one and ask the sales guy if "I could drive an E O S"... I thought it was three letters and not a word! Boy, I looked stupid. Thanks VWoA for NO Advertising... :p
Did the test drive convince you to buy one?
Test-drives in EOS cars should be banned.

There is really no such thing as an EOS test-drive.

I recommend driving all the competition first, then, give the EOS a try. Once you've driven the car-- especially with the top down-- you will feel that purchase isn't an option. So I believe that a "test-drive" of an EOS is more of an owner's "practise run".

:)

My EOS started with a drive by sighting of one in a dealer's lot. We stopped to check it out... and the sales guy said, "get in, lets go for a ride. I'd really like to hear how the car compares with your Honda."

<sigh>

Hours of research later, and my "practice run" ended up bumping the honda out of our garage. "Out with the old..." I always say. ;)

Amen! I can honestly say the same thing... Drove it... then told the wife "I can't go back without leaving with the car!"

Oh, and I think consumer reports called the Eos a Passat rear (to handle a large roof in the trunk) and a jetta front. But hey... nobody's complaining. just sharing.

At first I didn't realise it was the name I thought it was the initials Electronic Opening Sunroof. Perhaps it is!

Funny you should say that, I was thinking about looking at the Canon EOS camera just because it bore the same name.
