Welcome to the forum Kilby.
There are a couple of threads here regarding this button:

They should answer your question, but basically the button is to reset the tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS) after it has detected a tyre pressure problem and you have inflated the tyres to the correct pressure.
OOPS!!!
Wrong button!
As I left work in my EOS I checked the tyre pressure set button and realized that the button is different.
The one you want is the "Winter" button. The tyre pressure set button has a tyre symbol (that looks like a W), above the word "SET".

Thanks for the links lanmarc. That explains what that mystery was all about. Being that I live in SoCal, I doubt I'll be needing the Winter mode. Anyone want a W button? :D

J/K of course.

Hi SKIDOO. The EOS is a 2007 model, Eismer Blue with Moonrock Gray interior. 3.2/DSG with a load of options. We picked it up last Saturday and still learning and playing with all the features. Unfortunatly, we have to take it back to get the CD changer replaced. It's not working. Other than that, it's a blast to drive and it's surely a head turner.

Hi,

The W button is for the Winter Pack... Basically, when you press winter mode, it has different controlls on the gearbox and drives very sluggishly to help you drive safely in snow and ice.....

Just what you need in California! LOL

Kilby,

Not much use for the Winter button in Adelaide either.
I don't think we have winters anymore!

Found the description in the manual (Australian version) in section 3.1 page 136 - Winter Driving.

I could sure use it now where I live in ski country, but don't think it is available in Canada. Our winter pack option is essentially heated seats.
Had it once before in a Lexus, and it is a strange feeling .... step rapidly on the accelerator when wheels are on ice and NOTHING happens. Car doesn't even rev up as long as there is any potentail for wheel slippage!

So VW have finally caught up with Vauxhall (GM) have they - Drove an auto Carlton many years ago (early 90s) with this feature. Meant it started in third instead of first so less chance of losing the back end.

Ok, am a lil miffed now about the W button. Does the W look like nail-z-gull says someone bearing their derrier? or is it a clear W? mine is the first of the two options. So is it for tyre pressure or winter mode??????
Btw, it's next to the ESP off switch, which i'm sure I will be asking about in another thread lol. Handbook.....PAH

Hi Denny!
ESP helps you to avoid slipping and sliding going around corners ..... I'm sure Simon can give you a full explanation of how it works. Don't turn it off!

Thankyou very much (Simon) I feel a real chump now!!! And if I can't find a button with a tyre on it, should I be unduly worried???
