I have one. Only used it about half a dozen times in 8 months due to the effort of fitting it in... Once it's in it does do the job but it's only really worth it if you're doing a long/fast drive. Pootling about it just isn't worth the effort of fitting it.

Every time I have fitted it I find the next drive involves more than 2 people so I have to take it straight out again then it sits in the boot for a few more weeks until I feel the kind of drive I'm doing warrants it.. and the cycle begins again!

So it's worth it if you do lots of long fast drives but local/slow drives it probably isn't.

In retrospect I think I would probably rather have spent the money on one of the other options instead, although having said that it does work well!

Wind Deflector

The only thing I can suggest is ... if you want it, order it NOW. In Canada (and, I believe US, VW charge twice as much if you order it later, as opposed to if you purchase it as original equipment!

I wouldn't be without mine, it does an excellent job and I tend to have the top down at every avalable opportunity.
95% of my driving is done solo or with just my wife as a passenger tho, so I don't have the problem/pain of continuously having to take it off/refit it. Maybe if I did have to remove it a lot of the time my rosy opinion of it would change, but at the minute it is the one option i chose that I wouldn't be without.

Things must be different in other countries. I just picked my 2.0T up saturday and it came with the win deflector. Nothing that I ordered.

You mean the detachable one that sits over the rear seats and lives in a bag in the boot? It came as standard?

Or do you mean the one that pops up out of the top of the windscreen? That one IS standard on all Eoses.

I mean the one that goes over the rear seats and folds into a bag in the trunk.

It came standard. But if it makes you feel any better in the states Parking Distance Control is an option that cost me $350
Swings and roundabouts then. Saw another post here that says the windbreak is standard in the US.

It's up to the importer what the standard spec is and they always try to match/improve on what the opposition are doing, but sometimes the UK importers make some odd decisions (like deciding not to offer white, for instance).

I didn't know that the importer decided what options make the list. Makes sense. Thats why I could not get that great red leather here in the US.
Not with any colour? If they don't offer it at all they've made a grave mistake!

I picked up my Eos today.

Candy White ( great name for a stripper), 2.0, DSG automatic w/luxury pkg. I came with the wind screen as a standard item. I am leaving it deployed until I get a passenger for the back seat. Meanwhile, I can put items under the screen out-of-sight and leave the top down to run into a store.

I have just tried to buy a wind deflector for my Eos.
From new as a factory fitted option they are £230.
If you try afterwards to purchase they are £350.
I bought my car from this dealer but they wouldnt match that price.

I have since gone on: http://www.classicaddtions.co.uk I ... are just trying to rip people off. Laura

Just got my EOS last Tuesday and have been driving around with the top down and the wind deflector in place. Makes a huge difference IMO. Here's what it looks like on my car:

Hugh,

Thanks for the picures. The light blue with the light interior looks very cool!
The radio looks different from the standard in the UK, is it special?

Cheers

I think Hugh and I have the same radio system. It isn't the Dynaudio, but I am pretty happy with the quality. I think it is the standard system. It has 8 speakers still and you can rock along with the top down at a high speed no problem.

Nice looking car. It was a tough choice for me between that color and the black I actually took.

Hugh,
Its the standard one I have, here in the UK, but ours has the large display that shows up all the radio stations and the 6 CD auto changer selection. It looks like yours does not do the same from its small display.

Cheers
