I purchased a used 2007 EOS with about 14k miles on it last month. It's got the luxury package and dynaudio so is pretty well decked out. The only problems I noticed since purchase were a cracked cyclops light and a windscreen with broken pins. This weekend I went to the dealer who replaced the cyclops light and and windscreen. However, the windscreen no longer fits in the provided case (dealer is ordering a new case). In taking a look at the windscreen, vw has substantially redone the design of the front pins and how they are engaged. I'm actually quite pleased that the car came with them broken so that I could "upgrade" for free under warranty. If you're having problems with yours, you may want to check into this too.

For me it didn't cost a thing. The original one broke during the warranty period of the vehicle so it was replaced at no charge. I don't know if fading is something that would be covered under warranty, but you could always check with your dealer and see what they'll do for you.

I know this doesn't completely answer your question about cost, but I really don't know what it would have cost me otherwise.

I took delivery of my Eos in March and although I didn't order it, it has a windscreen with it so that was a definate bargain. It's normally a £125 option.
