Has anyone found an aftermarket windscreen or a place to purchase one at a better price than my dealer has quoted - $1068 including tax for the windscreen and bag. I saw one on a red EOS on the weekend on Vancouver Island and the owner said he paid in the $350 range.....

There is a firm (think in Austria) makes one but it's not quite as good as the VW original.

When I needed a replacement I found an original on Ebay - they come up quite regularly. In fact I didn't buy it as VW replaced mine FOC under warranty.

Windscreen deals

Google "eos windscreen" and several options pop up. A quick price check shows the lowest at $540. From looking at options for my previous Mustang, this seems to be a reasonable price although the materials that make up the screen probably cost around $25.

I think eBay has a feature that you can ask about an item and they will notify you when one is listed for sale. I wouldn't expect to see many of these on eBay as the only reason I can think for a sale would be a "total" in a wreak. With the Eos top, I would think it would take much damage to write one down to zero.

Hi,

I bought mine off e-bay in Europe. Original Vw item in bag, £165.00 including postage.

And it works !

Just purchased a '08 Eos, we debated whether to purchase the wind screen or not. We were advised that if ordered with car price was $375.00 but if purchased later from Parts Dept. cost would be about $900.

Hi A & J!
I hope you got it with the car. I didn;t and my dealer, same one you used, could not get a better wholesale price. I bought his first car and he didn't know the after market price was so high. We worked something out in the end and I have been very glad. They are great! By the way, we must be neighbours? I am in the Town of Blue Mountains.

I found one I want to buy, can anyone tell me if one from a 2008 or 2009 will fit my 2007 Eos?
Thanks in advance.
Looks like the same windscreen is used for all MYs. Here's the listing for the part from a random VW dealer in Oregon: http://www.partswebsite.com/reyreece/?i=2&id=17521416&rmake=410&rmodel=1912&ryear=2007&type=accessories&rsubcatid=&rpage=3&rcatid=

Gosh these things are expensive if you buy retail. I'm glad the windscreen came with our U.S. '09.

Thanks Lucid, fit perfect!!
I'm a happy guy!
Glad it worked out for you! My wife and I took our first road trip in the Eos last week, and a good portion of it was at highway speeds. The windscreen is wonderful for making extended top down driving comfortable.

:( This is SO not the answer I was looking for.
I had some dumb azz drunk guy try to "sit" on
my windscreen an smashed it to smithereenies.

Had I know the cost I'd have rolled him for his wallet
and left him there drunk, in the middle of Fell St.
in San Fransisco.

Glad I didn't throw it out, maybe I can duct tape and
super glue it back together. I will let you know how it
comes out with before and after pictures.

I broke mine by putting something heavy on it whilst it was in its bag in the boot (trunk). Supergluing doesn't work as it's made of some kind of nylon; tried having it plastic-welded but that didn't work either. Tried everything but eventually had to throw it out and got a new one from the dealer. Good news was that the dealer gave me it free under warranty because they'd had a few break in the same place!!

I leave mine in place ALL THE TIME. I figure that's the safest place for it. Too easy to get it dinged up in the trunk.

I think I've only had a rear seat passenger one time. Also with it UP, it provides a out-of-sight place for additional storage (especially with the top up).

neh321, what can I say? God bless you!

I saved a ton of money by simply taking it in and saying "it broke".:p
I had a great story all lined up about how the sides never went in right
to begin with and one day the wind blew it out and I had to risk my life
running across I-80 to rescue it blah blah blah... but they never even asked!

I love volkswagen! I'm also very glad I got the kick azz 5 year bumper to
bumper warranty on that sucker, I think that has a lot to do with it.

SO fellow EOS babes, if you break your screen, simply take it back to the
dealership and tell them it broke. If they ask you "how?" by all means
feel free to use my lie, it really was a good one.;)

Happy driving all

Oh and by the by, I got my first speeding ticket in 10 years the other day:rolleyes:
pretty bad considering I used to be a cop for the department that wrote me up!

LMAO Oh well, I speed constantly, I totally had it coming!
