Hello fellow eos-ers...
been a while since I have posted, but I'm still around.

Since my wife has learned to drive a 6sp we have noticed a recurring issue. My wife is shorter than me and needs to scoot way up to reach the clutch. Whenever she has driven for some time (at least a day or two) the yellow airbag warning light appears in the instrument cluster. I first thought this may be because the car thinks the driver is too close to the dash and the airbag has been turned off to avoid injury. But if this was the case wouldn't it have done this as soon as the seat was in position and not a day later? When I move the seat back and restart the car the light will still be on for at least one trip then turn off when I start the car.

Anyone else have this problem \ issue?

Thanks

The only thing I remember about seat belt errors was that the problem had something to do with the wiring under the seat and that it was the passenger seat.

Pepino, my wife had a BMW and has the same proplem as your wife (short but perfectly formed legs!- she is typing this for me!) after about a year of driving the airbag light came on and stayed on. She took it to BMW dealers who said it was because the seat was so far forward, and as cb391 said, it is something to do with the wiring under the seat. It did not turn the airbag off, but was a warning that should it go off it would be very very close to her face and there is always the possibility of suffocation ! Great a - you survive a crash and head injury but suffocate !

When ever I lay my backback with laptop computer inside on the passenger seat I will get airbag fault in the MFD and the airbag light will light up. My backpack weighs about 15 lbs. MFD fault and warning light goes away in every other circumstance so I have not worried about it. For me, not worth a trip to the dealer and losing use of my beloved Eos for a day.

Actually at 15lbs, the seatbelt and airbag warnings should not go off. But on the plus side it's nice to know the sytem does work.

I appreciate the feedback everyone, I think I will contact VWoA and ask if there is the possibility of an electric disconnect somewhere. I am a little wary of my wife not having the airbag in the case of an accident. I will follow up with their response when they eventually decide to call me.
