Does anyone have under seat drawers fitted?

Am trying to determine if I will be able to fit them to my 08 Australian spec.

VW tell me that my Vin# says they are not fitted!!...well...I know that, that's why I am looking to buy them..!!

But they can't tell me if they will fit.... I wouldn't have thought there would be any difference between US/UK/European or Oz spec seats..? Apart from electric and non-electric. I understand they can't be fitted with electric seats because of the motors.

any ideas??..

I don't see why the drawers wouldn't fit your car's [non-powered] seats. The drawer kit I got from OEMPlus was sourced from Europe, I'm sure. Wouldn't make economic sense for VW to make different seat pans for different countries.

FYI, you'll need a triple square bit (AKA "XZN") to remove the four bolts holding the seat down, so you can tilt the seat back. I can't recall the bit size as it's been two years - I just bought a set of triple square bits off eBay. You'll also need a pop rivet gun, as you have to attach a small bracket to the seat with pop rivets. Probably will need Torx bits as well. It was an easy 30 minute job, tops.

Under the right hand passenger seat, is there clearance for the handle that adjusts the back and forth movement of the seat?

In addition, I have the Sirius unit under the seat. Will it have to be moved?

thx for that lucid....just trying to make sure they will fit, b4 I order, as they are around $200 ea, and if they wont fit am stuck with them..so the dealer tells me..!!

do you find they are usable and worth having..??

$200 sounds expensive. I don't work for them or anything, but I betcha OEMPlus could ship a $105 drawer kit to Australia for less than $95 (not sure of the $ exchange rate, of course):

It will at least give you a price point to compare to what your local dealer's going to charge.

I just put the one drawer under the non-powered passenger seat. After we bought the Eos my wife groused about the lack of storage space, and the drawer certainly helps. She uses it to stash CDs, her MP3 player, etc.

For even more storage I added the dash cubby, below the headlight switch. You may already have that in your car, as I think its deletion was only in the U.S.

Lucid, how did you fit the "dash cubby"? My understanding was that if was deleted from U.S. models because of something was installed behind that part of the dash that was required for U.S. models. Where did you get the cubby and how was it installed?

Thanks, Steve

Thanks for the info. I'm not sure I want to go though all that just for a little more storage, I've gotten by for four years without it. I think the "internal braces" may be why the cubby wasn't fitted to the U.S. spec cars, I wonder what they are there for?

It has something to do with crash standards, from what I've gathered. Slightly older VWs have storage in that spot, but newer ones didn't. Perhaps the bracing keeps your left knee from smashing too far into the dashboard if you're not wearing your seatbelt. There's no way you can get a storage cubby in that spot with the braces in place, which is why VW had to delete in on USDM cars.

I ordered the passenger side underseat drawer and the dash cubby from oemplus, so I'll try and remember to take pictures of the install. I know there's already great install photos of the dash cubby for US models where the braces have to be removed, which I will need to do, but I don't recall finding a write up of the underseat drawer install.

how did you go with the install of underseat drawers...??

Have you tried a seach of this site for "Under seat stowage drawers" as I remember adding an articale with a link to this task, it included part numbers etc etc back in 2008.
I have now done 6 Eos drawer installs, it is a very simple and usefully DIY project and takes about 15mins per seat to fit.

Pleased to say I finally sourced drawers from OEM plus, shipped via Hop Shop & Go, all up a saving of AU$147 from buying locally....doesn't really make sense...but there ya go.....!!??

Fitted today, quite simple really....and still reasonable space left under drawers.

I Like em....:)

Good to know there is room under the drawers. That means there will be enough clearance for my existing Sirius module.

Tnx for the feedback on your install. Pics would be nice.
